Any estimates to what I can run with the addition of the following:

TA-49
3" THDP or Mease DP with straight pipe
Hooker catback
Big Neck IC
Blue tops
2800 Protorque TC

I don't drive the car much, and pretty much run straight 100 octane until I decide to put an alky kit on it. I can run ~20psi with the stock turbo, good O2's, no KR (haven't tried more boost). I'm figuring I should be able to run 23-24psi with the 49 on 100 octane with the blue tops. I'm also going to be ditching the DR's for track use and running a set of 26/10.5 ET Streets.
The car also has the miscellaneous stuff...RT pump and hotwire, MAF pipe w/K&N, etc.
Thanks for any input.

Sean,

As the car is not a daily driver, i would run 110 or higher octane, with that i would get a 110 chip burnt, this will allow boost levels 25-28 with good timing and 0 Knock. At this point providing you can hook-up i would say high 11's. Just my 2 cents as your combo is very close to my 109 block. ;)

yeah sean you rarely drive the car except out for the race nights you mind as well up the octane and get a race chip with that setup. but before you do that i say finish the stang there are some people around the streets that need a whooping.

Check my timeslips page.

So far I've gone 11.53 @ 117.77 and 11.66 @ 118.31

With that combo except the stock D5. Tires were 275/60 BFG drag radials, boost was 23 psi, chip was T108, fuel pressure was 46 psi, converter was locked with a switch at the line.

Others have gone faster. It's a fairly easy combo to master, but hard to get a lot of passes in to find the limits. I'd go to the track and bust off a high 11.X first run and the track would tell me to slow down

I didn't go there to slow down :)

I'd prefer not to have to resort to anything higher than 100 octane. I can't buy it at any local pumps, and I don't want to be saddled with having to drive to the track to get gas.

Will I be able to get into the 11's with this combo on 100 octane? I know at some point I want to run alky so that I can get back to 93/94 pump gas.

I do not think anyone can answer that question, as every car is different. There is no substitute for good fuel period. Alky yes decent amount of guys run it and love it, IMO just something else to break or fail, if not a daily driver why bother:rolleyes: Your combo will yield 11's with tweaking. I think you are going to have to go to the track and see how much boost you can get with 0 knock on 100 and adjust accordingly. Me i would put C16 in it and set the boost at 25-28 and let it rip. You can always go in on a 55 gallon drum with us. The more people the cheaper it is. :D

Alky is great on the street, but it can be a real PITA to tune at the track..... Take it from somebody that knows! With 100 octane you will probably be able to get 18-20lbs of boost at most without detonation.... You may be able to run mid to low 12's like this, but if you want to see 12.00's high 11's you will need to get the TA49 turbo in its sweet spot of 22-25lbs of boost.... To get 22-25lbs of boost you will need 110-112 octane (C12) or as Njturbo mentioned C16 works real well! When I'm at the track and running my car with the boost turned up my car will have nothing but C16, but that's just me! For the street I use pump gas (93 octane) and for the track I like C16 (117 ocatne) and it's not that bad for me to spent $80 to $100 because I don't race that often....

Good luck with your car :)

You'll enjoy the 49 and blues Sean, On my first GN I had em and ran a 12.2 @111 w/a crappy 1.9 60' You can run in the 11s for sure as others have already said.

I can can run 20psi with the stock turbo on 100octane with no KR and good O2's, why couldn't I run more psi on a more efficient turbo with the same octane and more fuel (blue tops)?
Actually, I misspoke in my original post. I already am running the big neck IC and Pro-torque convertor.

Because past this level regardless of what Turbo you have, you will start to see knock. To buy a TA49 and not run 22-27PSI is a waste of money as your stock turbo is already giving you 20LBS of boost. To see the real potential of your new combo you need good fuel. With good fuel you can safely run 24-27PSI of boost and not have to worry. Again just IMO as your combo is very close to mine and I have played the game already with spending less money for fuel, guess what, it does not work to yield the levels i want to run at with my stock block.

nj,
I don't plan on only running at 20psi, I was just commenting that I can run 20psi on my stock turbo with 100. I'd like to be in the 24-27 psi range, I just guess I'll have to try it with 100 octane and tuning. :)
If not, I guess I'll be calling you about a drum of C16. :D

i dont see why you couldnt get in the high 11's with that combo on 20psi and a nice 60'. im running only 20psi right now and next time at the track i should be in the 11.70ish area on 20psi and pump gas. i say put the combo together and run 20psi on the 100 and see what you can get out of it.:D
