Hello
I'm installing a powerlogger and plx wideband on an 86 GN with digital dash & 3bar MAP. I just want to double check connections.

#2 on input block spliced into green wire from PAC(alky) measures 1.6v with key on engine off.

#7 on input block is connected to white wire from scan master version 2.2

bung installed in exhaust

power supplied to plx plug

here's my question how do I connect the P.L. to the wide band? I think it's through the 4 pin analog connector supplied with the plx I'm just not sure how to make this connection. And if ya'll see anything else I may have missed any help will be grately appreciated

Thanks

Here you go.

thanks eric I really appreciate the help.

by the way I love those injectors and chip you sent, the car runs so much smoother.

Where do you install the bung?
Is it in the DP and if so at what point?
Thanks

Hey Eric (or anyone else who knows) is this the same location on all PLX widebands to include the stand alone models?

Eirks drawing is nice. And accurate, but is missing an important bit of information. Give me a minute to get the photo pulled off my camera and I'll show you what other wire you need.

100_0765.jpgThere's one other connection you need to make....the analog ground for the wideband signal.

Compare my picture to Eriks. See where he has the wideband signal coming out of?? Well, on my picture, that's the little red wire. NOTICE just to the left of the red wire is a black wire!!! That is the analog ground. VERY IMPORTANT! You need to run that wire to either engine ground, or more easilly, put a eyelet on the end of the wire and attach it to an ECM screw to ground it to the ECM.

OH, almost forgot, ignore that little gray wire on that connector. That's the PLX narrowband output. I experimented with it for a while, and found it to be TOO narrow, so I don't use it anylonger.

Maybe this will help.

Dave, did you also have to use the supplied capacitors on the analog output positive?

My original drawing was correct. You do not need to connect the extra ground. That is intended for the gauge that PLX sells.
You also do not need to install the capacitor, as the Powerlogger has it built in.

Eric

Sorry to hi jack but does installing a hydroboost system in a 86 GN prevent you from using the gas pedal to adjust? I just tried to no luck?

The brakes won't affect it. I've got you authorized now.

Just to mention something important. We need a SES code for wideband failure and the blm's locked to 128 so once the code is Set the chip can;t pull 10% fuel. Hopefully Eric will have this feature on the new chips soon. I am assuming your using a wide band chip though..

I can neither agree or disagree. The SM-AFR directions dont say what that ground is really for, other than the fact that "IF" the capacitors are used, they are hooked across the NB and WB outputs to that ground(so I assumed it was a WB or NB ground). I'm assuming the ground will prevent some offsets in many cases. It certainly wouldn't hurt to install it.

I hadn't really mentioned the capacitors because you're correct that they are not needed with the PL. However, per PLX directions, when using an aftermarket engine management unit or piggyback system they should be used. Which is why I have them because I'm running the Translator Pro.
