Ok just spoke to Mike @ Full Throttle on the secret phone ( I think it was tapped..I could hear breathing  ).. He said I could spill the beans on that to :p Just a reg ol Translator with a 3 1/2" LS1 MAF .. I didn't do the + because it would give me to many adjustments on the timing and fuel.. hell the car prob wouldn't even start

Dammit Dan now the secret is out. I think it is great if a guys wants to share every little detail about yheir setup and tune up, but I also respect the guy who does not want to do that too. Many hours, dollars and/or broken parts are usually the result of getting to that point. Maybe they don't want to tell for some reason, that sure does not make them bad people just because they don't feel the way you do. Dan, Melissa and Russ are some of the nicest folks I know, period. There is no reason to give them a hard time for not doing what YOU want them to do. I just got a call on the secret phone that Michigan Mafia is on standby, I heard the creepy breathing too.. maybe that was me

True! they did give people a goal all right! now everyone will be going out buying optima batteries, iridium plugs, and blowing engines anyway trying to get there whether or not. So whats the difference?

The only "difference" in this thread is you keep begging for somebody else to tune your car for you and everybody else is congratulating The Dan, Melissa, and Russ team.

I wasn't giving anybody a hard time. Didn't anybody see my "winkies"?
I can't blame anybody for not wanting to share speed secrets (If it could cost them money/winnings in the future).
I didn't really think my questions about boost were anything but very general in nature.
I guess I didn't realize there would be so many sensativities. Heck, it's not like I was going to go out tomorrow and use his trade secrets to run 9's. I have only 3 performance add-ons anyway, PTE44, MSD50's, FMIC, and all that stacked on top of a bone stock 130,000 motor, so I'm certainly no threat!! Lack-o-money is another shortcoming right now.

My point of view:

It takes a lot of hard work to make these cars do what they do. Do I have it all figured out? No way, or I'd be running 9.20s. I am determined to figure it out though.. That comes from trying different things and finding what works.

Would I give out all of my specs? No.
Would I tell you what works for me? Only after you thought about it for yourself and come up with an idea on your own, then we could discuss why it would or wouldn't work..

I've been working on running 9s since I bought my first GN back in '94. I just made it last year.

Dan, Russ, Melissa, Can't wait to see you guys in Reynolds!

HAAAA,haaa thats funny! In this whole thread I don't ever recall Begging other people to tune my car. I never said Grumpy, Mellisa or Russ were bad people at all and I hold no hard feelings towards them either. I know what they done took a long time, alot of money, broken parts and it's been a team effort and they got there!. Thats Great!! I hope to do the same some day too. Some just asked for some "basic" info and you would think you were trying to sneak into AREA 51 ..... Hey! That would be a good name for the car "AREA 51" :)

Russ, Dan & Mellisa good luck with future progress and I hope there has been no hard feelings here. I hope I can at least meet everyone in BG next year and I hope to run next to mellisa and have a good time. Next year the whole family will be going so my boy's will get to see a girl beat me!!! :)

One question nobody has asked and I'm a bit surprised... What kind of pump gas do you guys use??:D ;)

I am going to make a point to come see you guys too and say hello. Also pick your brain a bit on this alky thing. I got Razors dual alky kit on my car, and run 22 pounds on the street. At the track its just straight C16. I am not totally confident in my tunning ability to raise the boost past that. I was thinking of bringing my car and have it tuned by Cal Hartline on Alky and pump gas cause $200 for C16 is getting crazy every time out.

That right there is funny; I dont care who ya are;)

Most of you guys probably think it's funny that we are so interested in finding out the tune! We, or atleast I don't want it to go out and beat you with your own tune. For someone like myself, it is very difficult to get good help from someone who even remotely understands the turbo regal. The closest shop I had that I could trust was Conoly Performance, and it's closed now (That was a 6.5 hour drive from here) Now I don't have anyone. (The closest shop is a 14hr drive!) So when I ask about a combo, it's because I would like to insight to those who've got the experience. What's wrong with asking for some tips from people that have gone fast and ask for a little more info than (NO KNOCK). In the area I live, I'm probably the only turbo regal that goes close to fast and there guys that are definately, certainly faster than I am.... The GN is supposed to be a feared car.and it's not because all the other cars run 9.5's or 10.00... So do I want to be able keep up yes... Do I want some insight - yes...Is there anything wrong?

I remember about 10 years ago when I first got my 87 GN I was very young and went to the race track, and I saw a GN and I was very respectful and nice and certainly didn't touch his car, well when i asked him for some insight, this thread brings back memories in regards to how shady he was when i asked him what he had done to his car. Why so vague when asked a question? - Was he afraid a young punk kid would eventually beat him? Who knows? Needless to say... This community is about giving insight and helping each other learn from each other mistakes... What happended to stickin together? What happened to being able to have EVERY GN strike fear into a competitors heart! Without the insight, I can't do it... We ask for help from those who have done it... Consider yourselves the pioneers in Simplisitic Power, and eventually should someone beat you with a combo similar to yours, you STILL have the privilage to say I TAUGHT the way.. I showed them how to do it.. So within yourself, no one can ever take that from you...

THEN AGAIN IF IT'S ABOUT THE CASH.... LET ME KNOW!!!! I'LL FORK IT OVER AND KEEP THE INSIGHT A SECRET SINCE YOU GUYS DON'T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW!

I have a friend who was upgrading another system so he had to run race gas last week ... $75 for the weasel piss  he wasn't happy .. I can't believe how great Alky works .. we touch nothing.. just drive it ..... tune up better be good or it will get very "ugly" FAST !!! raising boost took a while when we started last year at this time ... I am sure Cal can do it with his eyes closed !!!! Doing the front bars on the cage shortly  Can't take a chance of her getting hurt if something goes wrong with the car  C ya in Reynolds

Sam I understand what you are saying but I don't see anyone else rolling over and spilling their guts :p .. Tuning these cars now really isn't that hard with all the "goodies" out there.. wide bands, EGT, and the new power loggers can track like never before.. hell look at how far chips have come !!! I can't tell ya how many track rentals we went to ...even before when she ran 11.4/5s @ 118/119 with a stock motor with a 44 turbo, blue tops, and a V4 we did a LOT of rentals .. tryin anything and everything we could think of .. good luck ... oh and things can break!!! or should I say they are goin to break ya just don't know when  part of racing a car  .. oh ya ..we still have a "little" left in it

I agree with you completely. Most people don't spill there guts, most people don't go nines on the stock computer with so little mods... I can tell you that I am amazed at your accomplishments All I ask it to learn from someone who I think can be a great tudor! Well, if your ever up for having a nice friendly chat to discuss ideas and "shoot them around" I'd like to opportunity!

Sam

Where are you at?

There are a shop or two around here in MS that fiddle with these cars....

The reason I ask... is I am 6-1/2 hours away from CPP.... but you might live in the opposite direction..... you don't say where you are from in your message board settings...
