pump sounds strange

Going through my car after 6 years in storage and wanted to make sure the alky system is ok. It's Razors progressive kit.

I removed the nozzle to get a visual on the spray pattern and hit the test button with the key on-engine off.

I don't know if this is normal but the pump doesn't seem right to me.
I can hear a thumping or knocking sound from the pump, and the spray pattern pulsates in sync with the sound. In other words it's not a steady spray pattern.

Also it doesn't spray anything until I turn the adjustment knob up to about 1/2 way. Between 1/2 and full adjustment the spray seems to increase accordingly.

Does this sound like a normal functioning system?

Nope. How old is the pump? Does it have the rubber cover over it? Mine got moisture in it and it needed replaced. I am sure you can call Razor or PM him and he will tell you what to look at, and maybe even check it out for you.
