How long does it takes for someone to build a short block with all of the parts needed on hand?

I think the OP was asking how long does it take for someone to assemble a shortblock if all the parts needed are in the possession of the person doing it.

With the machine work maybe two days at the most. If they are just assembling it the a couple of hours. This would be a professional shop/ business.

I disagree. I have been building these little engines for over 25 years and in order to do it RIGHT, it takes me at least 12-20 hrs to measure everything and check/verify clearances. Stretch rod bolts, degree the cam, file fit rings, chase every thread in the block, radius all the oil holes, modify the oil pump, install cam bearings, hand clean every part and look everything over before, during, and after assembly. Now if you are talking basic reading and rebearing with all stock parts....,.a lot faster.

I agree with Ken. Especially when you take into consideration that the engine in question is a stroker. The block will have to be clearanced and checked to make sure there is no mechanical interference between the rotating assembly and the block, the rods and the cam etc. This engine also has a girdle which involves more setup time to get is shimmed correctly and sealed properly so it won't leak in service. Done right it's a very involved process and takes a serious amount of time.
