I disassembled pump to clean and inspect and I want to get your opinion on some dimensions. I recently put in a 10 vane kit from Art Carr which is a hardened rotor/slide and kolene treated vanes. I always had excellent pressures at idle and full TV. The pump housing surfaces are nice and smooth.
The pump depth measured .7096" and both the rotor and slide measured .7073". Clearance being .0023". The 10 vane heights measured btw .706" to .707".
Can I reuse what I have or is there a concern with the vane height.

I'm also using a black pump slide spring 1.7" long (11 coils) and orange relief spring 2.2" long (18 coils).

Please let me know what you think? Thanks

paul

I wouldn't run the 10 vane. It's too loose to run without machining the pump anyway

It is Kolene treated vanes, that is what I supposedly ordered a few years back. And it even mentions that in their add for the pump kit. It must be some kind of special mat'l or hardening process?

The clearances are a little loose with that pump rotor. I would replace it. They are not that expensive.

I recently ordered and received a 10 vane kit from Art Carr, it didn't come with a new slide.

Well you are correct according to their website.

So what is the critical dimension for the clearance calculation. Is it btw the pump cover and the rotor, cover and vanes or cover and slide? Thanks

Are you saying that you disassembled a pump that made good pressure and didn't make any funny noises and are now concerned because of the measurements you took?

You are correct. Since I am rebuilding the trans I thought I better look over everything. I decided to clean and reassemble the pump as is. I will be posting shortly about the springs that were in there. Thanks
