Ran my new best 1/8 times and got kicked off the track

Went out to a local 1/8 mile track and tried the car out after fixing some problems.Had boost set at 20# and it felt real good.

First race was against a LOUD S-10 tubbed out with a SBC
I ran 6.88 @ 99.91 to his 7.10 @ 100 and won.

Tech guy approaches me and says no runs like that anymore without a cage and fire jacket . I asked him what if I let out at half track and he told me he did'nt care just no faster than 7.49. So I let out on the next run at around half track and bumped the brakes just before the traps and I got...

7.54 @ 69.10

So I decide to sit around and wait for a race and some dudes show up with a LS1 vette.Looked real nice and had a bottle in it and they would not raise their hood,so I asked them for a race and they wanted the move so i told them OK.After the race my friend told me he heard a whine like a supercharger coming from it.Anyway here is the race...

Me 1.63 60' 6.98 1/8 @ 99.2
Them 1.83 60' 7.40 1/8 @ 95

I WIN!....And I don't get to race the rest of the night.So...I guess its time to install that cage i have been meaning to get to .

Anybody have any good picks of a cage install that shows where to make the cuts in the floorpan?I am a good welder so I will be installing my own I think.

sixgun, sounds like you had a memorable night.

Here's some picks of the cage in my '86. I don't know how much help they'll be considering the different seats and no back seat, but at least you can see the floorboard locations etc.

RobsIron that cage install looks great! I have thought about removing the rear seat too,since I never use it anyway.
