So had a phone call from a complete stranger about my 86 ttype seems someone on here gave him my #. So he asks me how much for complete car, i told him my price he told me "oooohh too much, if i was in the market for a turbo regal i would only buy an 87". So im like ok, good for you. He then tells me the 86 arent worth as much because the engine is different . He says he worked for Buick for 38 years and he was the person who sold Burt Reynolds his GNX . He claims he has three Turbo buicks  . So im laughing at this point and i also tell him i have 3 buicks as well in my yard, and i have owned a few more in the past. So i pleasantly tell him "with respect" you might be mistaken 1 year, the 85 and prior years have the different setup which doesnt include an intercooler thus the nickname 'hotair'. He then gets serious and tells me i have no idea what im talking about, all i have to do is look under the hood and under the car to see the difference. So i asked him to explain it to me since he worked for Buick for so many years maybe you can enlighten me. He bluntly said the "configuration is different" ohh..... :D ok, just thought it was a tad bit funny... Just as an fyi he still thinks im wrong, and he's right and he actually was so positive of himself he told me to look online and google it. If you guys have any funny calls about people who are interested in your item and think they are right and you are wrong pls feel free to post.. Oh btw, he then asks me so is your 86 ttype a limited .. Didnt want to get into that conversation, since 86 theyre were no Turbo limiteds made only in 87. But he obviously know's what he's talking about so i just said i'll email you some pictures. :D

I hope he paid you for your wasted time.

The mis-information that gets spread about these cars from so-called "car guys" is astounding. And he's a "Buick" guy!

You should have gone onto, "bigger, better, faster, stronger mode" and started bigger stories for that know it all to digest. Having been sure to add the "you can look it up or Google it as a closing. Lol. I love a good tall tale story telling contest.

I had a conversation with the manager of the local oreillys like that one day. He said he worked on the first GN that ever came out and when I asked him what year it was he said 84. I've had people tell me they had big block in them and of course, twin turbos.o_O The ignorance of the general public on cars much less our cars is astounding to say the least but it's pretty normal even among "car guys".;)

lol what a character i did add his comment into my internal data logger (brain) SO just incase i get asked, So what's the difference? My answer would be; "the configuration is different"

Never carry a conversation on with a total fool, just hang up on them, they will get the idea.

A few times I have had to correct people and tell them my car is a T-Type, not A GN. Their reply was "O, so you have a fake GN". "Uh no, I have a real T-Type".

What # comes up on your caller ID??
Post it up, and some of us with lots of free time, will make him wish he'd not called!!:D

a couple of years ago i was calling around to all the local parts stores trying to find a filter and pan gasket for my T Type so i could get it back together that day... most guys just looked up the info i gave them- 84 Regal, turbo 3.8 with fuel injection, overdrive trans- and told me that they didn't have one in stock.. but there was one know-it-all at a small town NAPA that insisted that my car not only didn't have an overdrive available, but that they didn't have a fuel injected turbocharged 3.8. i told him to just type it into his computer and tell me if he had it. he said there was no need, because he knew i was wasting his time.. i told him i knew for a fact that i had a 200-4r trans, and that it came stock in the car. he told me that it had to have been swapped in. i just took a deep breath and asked if he had a filter and gasket for a 200r4 in an 87 Regal with a 307 and the overdrive trans.. he instantly said that they did have one on the shelf.. i told him that i'd rather spend my money at a place that doesn't have idiots working for them and hung up.

I really dont think it was a practical joke, he was an older gentleman not a youngster. He was telling me he worked for Buick for 38 years, and that he sold Burt Reynolds his GNX .. LOL he also gave me his Email address for pictures of my car. He clearly stated his buddy gave him my # that he is a member here. He's local n Jupiter he said, and he didnt want to waste his time "driving down for no reason" I really would love to post his email and cell # here but i dont think that would be professional on my part. I really dont give a chit who he is or what he'll do but im not a teenager to throw people's information out in the open. He hasn't called back but even my girlfriend was laughing at him he was one of those obnoxious loud talking middle aged high temper type of guys. And im a young CAT  so i guess he felt he was schooling me or something or i didnt know enough to be on his level. He got kinda pissed when i told him listen i dont know what division of Buick hired you but you have obviously been taught incorrect information. Then he rampaged about the 38 years, and Burt Reynolds gnx deal..:D I just really didnt want to here more from this guy after 8 minutes of chatting i told him listen dont worry about it ill send you some pictures of what i have. And i told him to "GOOGLE" it just like he told me  .. I also added some information on the email. But i have a few turbo car's in my possession but he still wanted me to pop the hood open to see the difference.. i tell you some people just dont admit they are wrong.. He's probably a guy who was taught incorrect information and is just trying to sound like a know it all. Trust me there is a bunch of guys on here that are a bunch of KNOW IT ALL ABOUT NOTHING. and we all deal with it. So i just thought it was a tad funny so i posted my encounter with this fool.

It actually happens all the time i have people call me and tell me im crazy my regal isnt worth anything that the most they'll pay is 3k that i have a fake GN and that my ttype bumper's should be black ... The list goes on, as a matter of fact had a GN 'expert' tell me my 86 with "leather tan interior" he tells me those seats werent original and the high center console was never on a ttype only buckets...... So i glanced at his GN" and took a peak underneath and noticed he had a 7.5 vampire teeth rear.....o_O i asked him did this rear end come with the car he say's yea the 85's came with that rear from factory :D then as im walking around his car i took a glance @ the vin, wasnt even a turbo vin.... complete clone he has no idea...poor guy.......somebody took his money, i can keep on with funny things these guys tell me around here..its a joke...

I never cease to be amazed nor doubt the capability of anyone's stupidity. Maybe I'm just getting old and growly...

Not at all!! All one has to do, is take a look at what's going on, inside the DC beltway....:D
