I'm considering getting a Razor alky kit and have a couple of Q's:

-Where do you buy methanol in small, manageable quantities?
-Where is the best location on the hot air cars for the nozzle?
-What is recommended alky/H2O ratio?
-Ordered a TT Street chip for 84-85 ECM; will I need a new chip if I add alky, or will it be OK? Max boost will be bumped from 14psi to probably 20psi (Eric?).

I apologize if this has been covered before (I'm tired, forgive me). Thanks!

Well to start off.. 14 PSI? That is not a stock level IIRC. I believe stock was around 10-12 for the Hot Airs? Maybe 14-15 for INtercooled vehicles. I could be wrong.

Typo on my part. I'm currently stock and maxed out at 12psi. I ordered a TT street chip for 93oct & no alcohol, and max boost of 12-14, and since I haven't received the chip yet, I figure I should try to have it changed to an alky chip instead before it's shipped. :)

Dave,
Here are some answers;
- Depends on where you live. Look at the sticky in the Alcohol section for places to purchase.
-There is a link in the sticky of this section that has some pictures on the location of the nozzle.
-There are some opinions on this . . . . most run 100% methanol.
-You will need a new chip if you add the alcohol system.

My question is:
What scantool "are you/will you" be using? :)

Thanks for the info, I found some good info on this site. The brain is functioning a lot better this morning. :)

For reference, I will be using TurboLink v4 with a 3rd-party serial-to-ALDL cable. From research, I understand there is a special harness needed in order to get boost readings into TL on the lapotp? Not sure I understand exactly... At least I have a decent boost gauge.

I buy my alky from a local Kart racing shop that is what they fuel the racing karts with.

Not to hack your thread but I have injectors and an Alky chip for sale

No problem, hijack away. :) Anyway, I already placed an order after talking to Eric.

There is supposed to be a place in Western CT where I can by 5-gallon containers. I've decided that this is a future upgrade; I'll concentrate on learning how to tune before adding the alky.

Thx!

I've been told tuning is essential. You could have the biggest and baddest parts out there, but still be slower than a lightly upgraded car with a tune.. Might be exaggerated.. But you get the point :P.

Hi ZNix, you've been told correctly. At least, that's what the sage experts on this and other forums say, and I'm inclined to listen to 'em!

By he way, I'm envious. I wish I had the opportunity to tweak a TR when I was 15-1/2! Back then, the '84 was just released. I remember drooling watching the "Bad to the Bone" TV commercial.
