I know a few guys here are over there to so...What do you have to do to sign up over there? I tried to register, read the post that says you have to email the main dude, which I did (4 times over 2 weeks).
It's like they don't want anyone else.

Anyone who is a member there want to put in a good word for me?
I got a few Olds small block build questions.

I tried to sign on as "Turbo442"

What's your question? I had a 403 T/A...

The Olds guys have a bit of an attitude so getting on will require knowing someone in the click.

well ok...
Here is what I have...
a 77 403 engine that supposedly only has 75k miles and ran fine but will be rebuilt. It came with the 4a heads. I also picked up a set of #5 Heads (69 350 heads, supposedly best flowing stock heads).
It would go in my 83 Hurst Olds.

Kind of wondering how I should build it up, best way, etc.
I am in California so I need to retain all smog equipment and pass bi-annual smog.

Thinking of using the Hurst intake and carb, #5 heads, probably put headers on and a new cam among all the other stuff like bearings, machine work, etc.

Goal would be a nice street car with more kick in the pants than the 307, nothing too wild to start breaking parts.

That's a good choice of heads. I had #7s. Have them at lest pocket ported. They make compression about 9.3 to 1, what the 403 needed. Stock head compression is like 8 to 1. There's a pretty good selection of flat tappet cams for that. Rollers are alot more money and I don't know if that's what you want. I don't know if someone is still making those "halo" girdles but I would give that a shot with those windowed mains. If you can get an early cam thats nodular (N cast into the crank) they are stronger too, I had one of them. I have some info on cams somewhere. I'll see if I can find it so you can zero in on that. I know mine was on the mild side and split duration. I ran 13.4 @ 104 in a 3600lb T/A with 3.42 gears, easy launch on regular street radials. I kept the rpms at 5600-5700.

Screw a site that thinks they are "too good" for anyone else. There are PLENY of olds forums out there ---

I sent some paperwork to you but it your email bounced. If your interested in some cam info I'll need your email to send the file...

Hmmm. Don't know why it bounced. Try aturbo442@yahoo. Its an alternate. By the way I appreciate your answers and help. I think 13's would be great for a street car. Knocks abot 4 seconds off stock
