Decided to relocate to TN, thought I might be able to get some insight from our TN members on what areas are good, and which ones to stay away from? I was thinking Gatlinburg, maybe Nashville. I want an area with good schools and low crime rates. :)

Any input would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

Speaking of low crime rates and good schools I recomend are: Seymour, Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, My two sons go to Seymour and they love it!! Stay away from Nashville! Too far away from buick events and the school systems are crummy from what I hear and crime rate is double or tripple.

Gatlinburg is nice but every time it snows you will be traped in untill the mountian roads thaw the snow!! Plus it's VERY expensive!!

We live in Seymour along with several Buick owners and love it! The school system is great with a bunch of sports and your centrally located to a bunch of good tracks:

3.5 hrs from Bowling Green
1.5 hrs from Bristol
4.5 hrs from the Reynolds Buick event
5.0 hrs from the Buick BPG event

Only 6.0 hrs to Mertle Beach

If you need brochures or papers or anything from this area just let me know and I will be happy to help you out and send you some info..

Thanks Scot,

I'll do some looking around in the areas you suggested. I plan on taking a vacation to TN in the coming months to try to make finding a house a bit easier. :) I'll let you know if I need any brochures or anything...

Thanks again, I really, really appreciate it!

Scot's right!! Love the area here around Seymour, Sevierville. Inexpensive living, low taxes, etc. etc. In my 20+ years of Navy service we've lived all over this wonderfull country of ours, and finally ended up here in East TN.

Let me know if you have any specific house hunting criteria, my wife is an expert on realstate research(her job)!!

We were planning on moving to the Knoxville/Maryville area until the economy dumped and we can't sell our house here.

One thing about that area, if my info is correct, if the house is within city limits the taxes are twice as much as if you are in the county.

What do you TN guys know about Crossville, I was looking at a place there (via the net) 5 ac with nice house and pond with full city services. The place qualified as farm land and the taxes were $500/year.

Scot, how's the weather in Seymour, Sevierville and Pigeon Forge? Any difference between the three? They seem to be in the same county. I plan to relocate back to the states in 3-4 years tops. I was thinking of FL, TN or TX. Don't want to deal with snow again @ all!!

Crossville is decent but it's in the sticks with not much around as far as shoping goes.

BTW: I live in seymour (Blount co.) and my taxes are $500 a year on a $150,000 home with 1 full acre. Curb street subdivision with natural gas, garbage pick up but because i'm in the county I can go in my back yard and shoot my guns! LOL

Weather is the same in these three areas! It snows here but it's gone by the end of the day or the next day, I have never had to lift a shovel in 15 yrs since we left Wisconsin and I love it...

BTW: It's 65* out right now at 5:00 pm.... :)

LOL, I bet you do! :) While you're at it...can you clear out your garage? I need room for my GN and boat. Thanks babe! lmfao

If Lee worked on it the carport will do ;) Haha, I have plenty of room Muffy :D

It's CornMuffin, get it right beish! lol
Lee is Mr. FreakinFantastic...and did an awesome job on my car...so I'm thinking more like, it's own garage (make it three car so nothing gets near it), complete with security system, dogs, and a man stationed at the door.

Wait, a man to guard it? Are you saying a woman can't do that??? I'll guard it, you get the dinner :D :D :D

I spent 10 years in the Nashburg area. Not bad if you move out of it. Murfreesboro is ok as well as Shelbyville. Knoxville is pretty run down now from when I was a kid so I'd stay out of that area. East TN is very pretty but you need to be aware that the accent may through you a bit, so be prepaired not to understand any one.

Charlie,

The accent thing is nowhere near what it used to be, there has been a ton of people move here in the last 15 yrs that it almost seems like it's 50/50...

It really depends on where you are Scott. The tri-state area isn't that bad but closer to Kentucky it gets worse. Something about that area I guess.
