One of the reasons the curves are unlevel is because of the cam and the heads. Get a set of ported heads and a bigger cam and that thing will do much better. Just saying.

That's my word! stock parts.
Yep Charlie Cylinder heads.. Thinking first week in Sept I'll have the petty cash to ship them along with the aerosol rust proofer for you!

Next goal engine-wise for this car is going to be 650whp 4.1L still blownthru.........of course this comes after I thoroughly beat the Sh!t out of this HA block first.

hey adam when ya get a chance, we should chat about the BRPV... Im going blowthru myself on my 4cyl

A.j.

They are 8445's still stock other than Comp 980's they have never been removed from the '85 HA block still rocking stock steel head gaskets, that's what they are Ramone.

Turbo upgrade is imminent and it will end up beating out the trans and converter and other things I had planned to upgrade first. I'm working with A.j. on getting a PT52 for the upgrade unit as I keep stashing the cash for it. However I am going to go ahead and upgrade and modify parts of the fuel system the same time as the new turbocharger. I'll be going with a 68GPH electric fuel pump and a newer A1000-6 fuel regulator to keep everything more stable at the fuel pressures I'm running.

Here is the Frankenstein turbo in it's current shape:

Very nice Adam... want to sell me your old fuel pump, regulator and turbo with the carb? I have 3 turbos, but 2 are '79s and the other is an '85... so I wont get much boost out of those.

Slow progress but it's better than none at all Charlie.
Most likely not Jase, I plan on leaving the old pump and regulator installed but only to be used for the nitrous system so I don't have to borrow fuel that is destined for the carb.

looks like the thrust bearing on the turbo is what suffered the most.

I bet it was an old 180! or even 270* unit..... thus the need for a 360*

A.j.

I'll bet your right about the thrust bearing A.j. The turbo is definitely broken with oil all over both housings and the edge of the compressor wheel now ruined. I hope to have the rest of the cash for the upgrade soon.

Warwagon,Is this your second blow thru set up? Do you use a I/C with this?
Do you use a q-jet or something else? I still think of doing this to a car,but havent yet. Skidman.

Thanks for the Interest Skidman!
Yes this is my second generation blowthru system and it is Intercooled. Right now there is a BG Mighty Demon blowthru carb that has been tweaked a lot. The first system I built did consist of a heavily modded blowthru Q-jet that was on top of a stone stock 4.1L 4bbl intake manifold and it was not intercooled. The Q-jet setup was OK but could not be pushed over a 10psi limit of boost due too severe fuel leaking out of the carb and accel pump.

Impressive

WARWAGON....
I must say I am impressed with your HARD work. I have been following the post for awhile. 600 TQ is nothing to sneeze at. Back in the late 80's, friend of mine worked on his 83 T Type. Nothing special. He had the late John Myer's hog his turbo to the max. It had carbon fiber wheel and a .96 a/r. This turbo was a screamer. You could blow the wheel with your mouth and it would spool up. The headers were modified HA from KENNE BELL and a KENNE BELL Turbo cam and 4 Barrel intake. We tried first with a Carter Carb. Never could get it right. Had a 750 Holley built with Boost reference valve.Had a boost referenced regulator with a Holley Blue pump. Had a 87 GN BRF Tranny and a 3000 restalled D5. He also sprayed a 75 shot, later moving up to a 125hp shot. We stripped all of the Factory controls off the engine bay. I recall we used a MSD 6 AL with boost retard. We got car to go from a 18.25 1/4 to a 11.55 @119. We tried to get it in magazines, HOT ROD, CAR CRAFT, and others. But they were only interest in the Injected GN's. Many people laughed until they found out a carbed Buick had dusted them off. My friend got LUCKY and score a BUSCH 4.1 Carb motor at a racers auction. We started to draw up a plan to push the carbed wonder into the 10 sec zone. He later became a father and I decide to finish college and the project sat. Years went by and he called me and told me he sold the engine to his Brother and he had put it in a 240Z. It ran 11.6 on motor no NOS. His brother did port heads, intake, and headers.

Keep up your great work...

Thank you for checking out and having interest in what I've been doing here in this thread, Mr Chuck McCray. The '83 T-type that you were involved in sounds like It was a fun project as well as something to experiment with. Knocking roughly 8 seconds off an ET is a great acheivement, I can't wait 'til the day I get to take my Regal back to the track and see how it will perform compared to my original track session with the same car. Don't underestimate the carb'd Buick v6's people! I'd like to have a few BUSCH series Buick engines myself.

Turbo Upgrade.

Okay Big thanks to Bison!
Got the Upgrade turbo today so that meant stopping on all the other projects for a moment to yank the old turbocharger off the Regal to see what needs to be done.
I'll have to remove the DP and match it to the huge WG hole and turbine outlet on the new equipment and get half of a Garrett compressor cover clamp and bolts( the old turbo's will not fit)
PT53 on the left my old Frankenstein turbocharger on the right:
