The old turbo header gasket(junk) had been leaking the entire time before. I'm going to get one of those solid copper ones or run none at all.

A few more things I'll replace or upgrade soon: Fuel Pump and Regulator. I'll use the old pump and regulator for a separate stand alone fuel system for my Nitrous so I won't be borrowing any fuel that is destined for the engine.
a Built stageII 200-4r with a 2500-3000 stall converter and 4 new tires and 2 extra wheels for my slicks.

Okay Big thanks to Bison!
Got the Upgrade turbo today so that meant stopping on all the other projects for a moment to yank the old turbocharger off the Regal to see what needs to be done.
I'll have to remove the DP and match it to the huge WG hole and turbine outlet on the new equipment and get half of a Garrett compressor cover clamp and bolts( the old turbo's will not fit)
PT53 on the left my old Frankenstein turbocharger on the right:

nice!

Very nice Adam. Looks like you'll need a few more upgrades to go with that turbo to help improve your power as well.

Could it be that the housing might be warped letting it blow at the 'bottom'..?
Would you be able to just add two gaskets?

E

Thanks for checking the Thread out 77AMC.
For sure if either the header flange for the turbocharger or the turbine housing were warped it would leak. Not the issue here, the gasket material is the culprit. All the flanges are straight for everything but I did have to weld a bead around the perimeter of the down pipe flange then had it resurfaced, once it was warped and would not seal.

I'll be adding little much else and most likely no more engine parts at this time. Charlie. I was 85whp off my goal last time out and I know I can get there with new trans/converter, more boost and tweaking the tuning. Fecal Matter! I have not even sprayed alky yet let alone own a kit.

Thanks A.j. I'm probably going so see what kind of thrust bearing it has and that is about it. The turbine wheel is still good but the compressor wheel edge is damaged, so I say a rebuild is out of question. What do you want to add it to your collection?

I was liking that compressor housing and back plate... could be machined for a larger wheel.

just thinking though...

A.j.

Yeah it is pretty, plus it's semi polished and is cast in the .70 A/R configuration.
Still have those .030 used forged pistons?

Alright children keep the BS in your own threads,

Update: Feb12th Got a SCE copper turbo gasket in and it's perfect and it was a DEAL. I ordered all the fuel system upgrade components this morning and will see all that mid next week. I'll keep chipping away with my side work and get back on this full time soon and finish modding the DP and get the upgrade turbocharger installed, Probably first week in march I'll be ordering built 2004r and good converter to upgrade the TH350C I'm using now. I'll be changing little to nothing else with the rest of the combo at this time

Alright Time to start back and finish the upgrades real soon, Almost finished with an over-all refinish job that's also in my garage with my Regal so that has to leave before I jump back on the Regal full time.
I got the Converter today Thanks Dusty! and I've had all my fuel upgrade components for a while, I'll be running twin fuel systems this time so the engine and N20 system each get their own:Pump, FPR, inlet/return lines all plumbed to the stock fuel tank. Still have to get a few parts from Bob (Intercooled88's) Can't wait to get back to wrenching.
