Throw that screw together fuel filter away Adam. You don't want to see it come apart while you're driving. You really don't want to know how I found it out either. Not fun at all.

I put locktite on the threads and coated the ends in clear Fuzor epoxy before I put it on. Thanks for keeping an eye out for me Charlie! ;) Been there before with these on atv's.

Was finally able to start the car up yesterday after some starter motor issues were cured. The solenoid was sticking on the starter I just swapped out(Starter would just keep on cranking after the key was bumped and had to yank the Batt cable to shut it down)
It still sounds good, I'm going to get some more fuel in it and go test out the new turbo and then if all is well I'll get it back in the garage and swap out the th350 for the new 200-4r, right after that I'll be heading to any and all tracks I can make it too and get ET's

I just took my front right wheel off. This is one of the major reasons my turbo died last year, I had to drive home from the Mustang Dyno nearly 40 miles with that tire like that and if I started to go over 50mph that wheel would start leaving the tarmac:eek:
I haven't moved this car once inch since I parked it right after the dyno in July last year, so it's time for new tires all the way around.

You can get a mini starter off evilbay for an SBC that will make it easier to start and around $69.99 shipped. It fits and it's much lighter as well. If you need links tell me.

^ Almost did Charlie, unfortunately the Battery died when I drove it out to fuel up so I spent that cash on a Battery.
I've got tires ordered and should be in this weekend or early next week. I did get Insurance back on the Regal the beginning of this week, it's legal again. I stuck my old 14" wheels up front for now to move it around the garage/driveway and for light street testing 'til I get the new tires on all the way around. I'm ultra happy that I have the the new 4 speed trans/converter to put in the Regal now. I took it out Tue and Wed evenings just local to make sure everything is going to be OK, My old stock trans/converter can't hold the new turbocharger at 17# it's slipping and flashing bad, so I said let's finish it off and turned the boost up to 20# and blew the carb hat gasket out.
So It's trans/converter/shifter swapping and new tire time. GOT to get it to the track and back to the Dyno. BUT I also have to be as easy as I can on that 7.5" axle, I just can't afford the 8.5", 12bolt or 9" upgrade yet.

If you go to my thread you can brace the 7.5" rear up and upgrade it to 28 spline so it's just as strong as the stock 8.5" Adam. You will need new spider gears and axles but it's cheaper than going to the 8.5" or 9" like the one I've got hidden away in the shop right now.

A 7.5 can never be as strong as a 8.5 it is impossible

I personally can debate that Mike. The dirt track guys have been restricted to the 7.5" rear in modified chasis for years and if that's not punishing enough they hold up to 500 + HP and are beaten up pretty badly.

I was thinking strictly rotational forces? I know cranes would break axles by poor choices in braking over irregular terrain.

Stock is 26 spline but you can upgrade to 28 spline like the 8.5" Dave. With bracing the housing and tubes and the axle up grade with new spiders it will be as strong and a stock 8.5" axle.

I know in 7.5's the axles usually go, but the pinion on the higher ratio gears on 7.5's arent big at all. I know the tube might be stong, but the guts arnt going to be any better.

Id say if you want a real good rear end to almost drop the $1000 on a quick perf one. Yeah they are a big investment, but you get disk brakes, a stong rear, and endlessly swappable gears and posi stuff.

I'm not concerned with the rear axle right now, not 'till It gets sticky tires back there. I got half of my news tires on so the testing commenced.. Then I set myself up and forgot to re-torque to the turbo back down on the header since I'm running that SCE copper gasket, Lost two nuts off the turbo and blew that copper gasket out:mad:
So, removed the copper gasket then cleaned up and coated both the turbo and header with K&W Copper coat, that stuff works great I have it on the down pipe and it's sealed up.
Well I'll dismiss all my previous testing remarks so far after the test driving I took today now that I have no more leaks. I know this PT53 Turbo is not new tech at all, probably a dinosaur compared to today's turbo's. But even in a Precision .63 housing with journal bearings I think this turbo spools pretty quick for a .69 trim t4 wheel on my fairly stock combo. I can already tell this is going to outperform my old turbo in all area's, except spool up, that old Frankenstein turbo was a quick spooler, but this new turbo is still no laggy slouch.
It's time for the New trans to go in for sure, Reverse is just about gone and 2nd gear is now gone in my trans from today's little test drive. My brother hooked me up with some High PSI hose to run to the tranny cooler and trans fluid were the two things I needed before I could complete the 4 spd swap. I hope to have it in this week and fix my rear brakes too.

Alright, Progress continues: old 3 spd trans is out, sitting on an ancient trans jack and the new 4 spd is in front showing the th350 what's up. It's going in the car tonight. Then new shifter is installed and in the park position in the first pic and in the 2nd pic it's in neutral. And lastly is a quicky shot of my new tires this is the left front.

is that a spark plug in the dip stick hole?

Hell yes it is Matt, do you need some spark plugs? I have some extras.....
Yeah Charlie it's an '84, will be a streamline install.
