Is that a Sun super tach you have in there? I had a real nice sun tach in mine from 1974 I think in my car for a month or so but took it out because it was a V8 only. Otherwise the thing was super cool.

Looks like progress... is that 350 the original? It looks different then mine, it has a mountain on top, mine has a valley... if you know what I`m talking about? In other words, is it for 3.8 bolt pattern only or can it be used on a 350... just curious.

Doesn't mean anything to me Adam. The 83 T has it and the 83 NA doesn't. Kinda weird.
Perhaps a mid year change since the OD trans was going in the T's. I know all '84 and later year chassis have the extra cross member pad.

It's not but it does look like it, It's a ProRacingTach made by Equus, I'm sure it's from the 70's

No that th350 is not original to the car. It's a lockup th350C with dual bolt pattern bell housing, the car originally came with a lockup 200 metric 3 spd trans.

Thanks for checking the build out guys!

It's got 4 forward now!

I've had the trans installed for awhile and just getting around to update. I still have a couple items to finalize (TC lockup, brakes, install a puller fan on my trans cooler) I do really really like this EA stage 2 200-4r with the PTC converter and I've only done a few tests and put less than 50 miles on it so far. It makes me think the car actually has 100 more ft-lbs of torque and HP that was lost just slipping away with the old th350/converter(least it feels that way to me). I have to go back over the brakes and reset the Prop valve but I was able to produce 2# of boost on the foot brake before the tires lost their grip and spun and I could never get the car to do that before. This trans shifts instantly at WOT, 1-3 gears are quick just like bam bam bam I love it, I filled it up with synthetic DexVI. I'll be taking it to the track before long(I went to the track on my Birthday June 2nd and I wished I had brought it there even though it's not ready) But I have to get the TC lockup under control, I do not use a computer and there is nothing hooked up to the trans electrical connector at this time (hell I don't even have a connector that fits the trans) so I'll be looking for one. On my last few test runs I opened the dump and noticed a reduction in spool time and pulls hard, I think this PT53 turbo spools pretty damn quick for a .69 trim exh wheel on my combo @ 20# boost, 93 pump gas, 18* timing and it's not fully optimized yet.
The trans pan is now the lowest part of my car it's got the down pipe beat which used to be the lowest part by 1cm

Figured you like the new tranny Adam. Much more efficient and you might even be able to use it as a DD now.

PTC converter

I may have missed it, but what stall did you go with? 12 or 10 inch Convertor? Did you by it from Dusty?

You bet I love it, I have not went on the freeway with it yet but I it's great soo much better now!:D

Yep I bought it from Dusty, He made a 12" 2200 lockup for me. I needed a tighter converter to go with the OE camshaft.

whats wrong with a high stall on your trans?

Nothing would be wrong with that. But it would be wrong on the engine side of things for me. This stock Lc2 cam isn't that big, a high stall isn't needed and I don't want to miss the fattest part of the torque curve, for me it's starting to ramp up from about 2500 on up and if I wasn't happy with something 100 extra HP is flick of a switch away but I can't turn traction on with a switch unfortunately.

yeah... now get out there and get some ETs...:D

alright. it took me a while but i read it all.... 12 pages. so it would seem to me that a demon blow through set up is exactly what i need. but i have no choice, i have to base it on a 1978 block. it's still a turbo block with a fillet crank. so i guess i don't need my turbo intake manifold. i will put it together stock and then i'll work on the blowthrough system. this thread answered alot of questions so thanks. some of the fastest cars in the world still use carbs. i did notice that at no time in this thread was the engine starving for fuel... always rich. now you guys are on to trannies and converters, i did enjoy reading how surprised some people get when they get beat by a carb engine. not sure why but i knew it's possible. not surprising to me at all.

depending on where you are ive got an 86 t-type shortblock, with what i believe is a 204/214 cam, heads with new valves, pushrods, bearings, slugs with wristpins, and an oilpan with a drainback valve... no crank intake, headers, wiring, ect.

sorry to hijack Adam  i believe i speak for everyone when i say we wanna see some ETs

No problems, Glad to help. ET's are soo close I'm just about ready to go to the track with it. I did get the tuning finalized on the street and the car is running/performing great! The baddest it's ever been right now :D and traction is at it's worst. It's like a 2 speed now, I've got 1st until the boost hits then I'm smoking 2nd and most of 3rd, sometimes It will catch traction just at the top of 3rd then shift into 4th. I also had popping out of the exhaust @ WOT full boost, Took my NGK Ur5's gap down from .025 to .022 and it all quit and pulls clean now. It's completely different animal now, pretty much had to relearn to drive the car.
Flashlight Drags are this Sunday (fathers day) and I'll be there with the Regal and see how it does this year, plus one of my friends is letting me borrow his DR's for a while so I don't have to run on the street tires at the FLD's and PRP racetrack.

whats your best time so far adam?

The later heads will bolt right on if you want to use the 78 block. No issue there at all. If you want to stick with the low port heads I've got a low port holley intake that would work nicely for a blow through set up. Not quite the flow as the high ports but if you go blow through then it shouldn't be a problem.

I've also got other high port intakes as well and they should do good if you decide to go with a set of high port heads.

Charlie has you part way there. I have read that if you enclose the carb completely; all you have to do is change the float out to a neoprene one. Then you have to build a box to enclose the carb instead of the way Adam did it. I think his way is more efficient.

Well kinda Matt. The Holley intake is made for both the square bore carb and the spread bore. He can run either one he wants but the best option here is the Holley spread bore set up for blow through.

thank guys. i'm going to work with the 78 topend. unless the machine shop tells me bad news. but i really just want to drive it this year. if i start mixing things up i will never get this done. stock install to start with and save parts for the next phaze in a year or so. i have come back down to earth. but that doesn't mean i'm not buying things...for the right prices. thanks again... back to the books i go. just so everyone knows, i respect the carbs, but i hate them. obd2 is so much easier...lol... if i want to go fast, press 1, if i want to go faster, press 2.... much easier:cool:

LOL....

thats hilarious.

when the world ends .... there will be two automotive things left.

Carbs and Points.

Went to FlashlightDrags in Waynesburg, PA.

It started to get pretty stupid hot later around 2:45-3:30 my brothers avalanche showed It was 99* where we were by the hangars. My day was over pretty much before I got out on the tarmac. :frown: Everything was fine until I finally got the slicks bolted on and fired the car up to go get in staging line, I pulled out of the spot and started to drive around my brothers Avalanche then heard the awful sound of a belt or something just not sounding right at all. I back the Regal back up in the spot and lifted to hood to find the Alternator ripped from and broke the mount and the belt all chewed now. So we cleaned out my brothers truck looking for something and came up with a really short ratchet strap and a bungee cord. Then proceeded to rig up the Alt the best I could with what I had and went racing, lol I quit early after 3 runs the Alt was on it's last fragment of the mount. I rolled on some 26-10-15 Et Drags. I borrowed some 27-10.5-16 Et Streets on some 16" Camaro salad shooter wheels but the back spacing is way off on those so I just ran my slicks. I actually removed those two wheels from my '82 Regal to put the slicks on Saturday I had no more 15" wheels left.
