Should I spring the 450 dollars for a master rebuild kit and try to rebuild the tranny myself or get the other tranny out of the 85 monte for 75 bucks and swap all the GN specific stuff over? I've done searches on DIY rebuilds and they all say its not bad as long as you get the CK manual, which I plan on doing. My car is all pretty much stock but I will upgrade as money permits. Is this kit overkill? I plan on running the stock converter. Basically just wondering what would be the best route for a guy with little money?
If a DIY rebuild is feasible in the garage by someone that's somewhat mechanically inclined then that's the way I'll go. Just don't wanna spend all that money for a rebuild kit, tear all apart and figure out I'm over my head, then end up paying someone more money to put it together. Not scared to do it, just don't know what special tools are needed nor the expense of them. Input from pro to DIY would be great:biggrin:
