Got my car to shop today to address some rust issues on the floor pan. It's mainly on front driver & passenger side. Some surface rust on rear floor. Previous owner did a HORRIBLE patch job on driver side floor. They cut out the rusted area, then cut a piece of sheet metal that doesn't even fit. Placed it over the top of the hole & sealed it down with some sort of foam sealant - REALLY?! I knew this issue was there when I bought, but when u start tearing into it, u find the real truth & what's it gonna take to do it right. Great thing I got an awesome fabricator that's gonna do it right & fix it. Blessed for him for sure! Can't wait to see the results. It's all coming together slowly... Before pics below:

*Also, gettin the rear bumper & some smaller pieces repainted.

I had similar problems. The best advise I can give you is to redo all the Sean sealer on both sides of the fire wall and door hinge pillar, also where the hinges meet the body. Look at where the windshield meets the lower corners of the body. The seam sealer cracks and will let water in.

That's awesome advice! Thank u! I will address that.

There are vendors here that sell new floor pans. That might cut fabricating time down. There are sections that are sold,as well as new plugs, too.

Example:

Oh yes! I seen these as well. I wanted to wait to see wait he said before I ordered. If I needed a whole floor pan. Luckily, he said I didn't & he is able to with what I have. I know it won't look like the stock floor pan, but it will be clean! I am also getting the whole rear clip painted, cowl, front head light bezels & T-Top Rail/Trim. So that was also addl' expenses I had to keep in mind. I don't want to cut corners on this since I have everything ripped out. So I hope it turns out well. I think it will tho. But YES! I wouldn't mind the repro floor down the road one day.

I have a front passenger sectional , You could have it free if you want to pay for shipping. I replaced my pans and didnt end up needing it. It is brand new !!

Texted you back. No problem theyre just taking up space in my tiny garage. Luckily I live close to Gbody and didnt have to pay for shipping.

So while repairing floor, I also needed to address an issue on trunk deck below key hole. Seems to be a common area for rust on these cars. But this one is pretty rusted & whoever worked on it before jus covered it up. That why it was "bubbling." Always is interesting when working in cars.

What's my best option to fixing it?

I haven't updated this in a while, since I have been working on this car to get it back on the road. But I wanted to posted just a couple Before pics so you can see how it was. I need to find my "after" photos so I will post those in a different message. I am dynamating some parts of the floor right now. Its turning out pretty good.

I had a Buddy of mine do the work. He was supposed to take more pics throughout the process but never did. However, I do have a few, jus not that side where it was really bad. I might have one. I gotta find it. But he actually is an amazing fabricator. He created a floor pan from scratch and welded it in. It looks really good. Also, used POR15 over the whole floor and Dynamated a several sections. Turned out really nice.

Oh I have the same problem ;) Redbull alll over the suede in my 300ZX... really?? You know better I know you know better.... haha
