What is the difference between V and Y type harnesses?

Is it true that there has been a rulebook revision that does not allow wraparound shoulder belts and must use anchor points instead?

How to attach the crotch belt to the floor? Looks like I wil have to weld a plate and bracket to the floor.

Probably getting an R J S harness. Should I spend more for a RCI or Simpson or would I just be paying for a name?

As long as the Belts you get are NHRA and IHRA Certified you are all good ;)
The will also only be good for a set amount of time and then have to be re-certified.
The Simpinson belts have the best Directions also. You can go to the web sites of these companys and get more detailed install directions ;)
Hope this helps

easiest way to attach the front is drill through the floor and use some large flat washers and a big bolt , sould be just about at the front edge of the trans crosmmember when you look from underneath.for where to put the hole

the V is for bars with with the rear cross bar and will have the dual mounting tabs for beltr attachment (bolt the belts on) ,
the Y is a single mount behind the driver and is for cage cars that wrap around the driver like you would see on dragsters

no revesions in my book that i see , only important revision this year was dropping the roll bar rule to 11.49 from last years 11.99 , and belts of course because you cant run a 5 point belt without a bar .and they must be 3" web

I went rci 3" (rci-9410D) with the latch but the cam would have been nice and the platinum they will recertify if you send them back so you can go another two for a total of 4 years. the platinum is the same price as the std belts but has a 6 pont lower submarine belt (its a v lower) that looks like it could be bolted under the seat tracks or just attach both to a single centered bolt

and dont forget youll need a helmet and single layer firejacket if you are slower than 9.99 and non C -clip axles and theres some considerations on lugs and valve stems depending on tire

Great. Thanks guys. I am far behind in having my car completely legal. I finally just got a roll bar in the car. I am gonna get the harness and jacket for my B day. :D Thanks for the info.

As for the anti-submarine(crotch) belt it was stated just attach it to the floor under the seat with a big bolt...big fender washers...I've never been called on it from Tech...I have seperate shoulder belts that use one attachment tab on the roll bar...again always got through Tech with that...I have a Crow harness:

on the crow enterprize belts ,had them in the 86 they are a really nice belt and i liked the built in shoulder cushons and after getting the RCI from summit the crow are nicer and only about 20bucks more for the latch style

as long as your belt are in date tech usually wont say anything but if they wanted they could pick the rule book and tell you you need to have the strap end attached so that it points up as opposed to just bolting flat to the floor with the tab bent up slightly , same goes for the lap belts in the stock holes

Is it possible to just use ONE of the 2 sub belts to effectively make it like a 5 point?
