anybody know what it could be? or what i should check

tires loose on pavement....no actually the loose or split hose is right on.

Car is 100% stock with 39,000 miles. took it out for the first time this year when it made the high pitch screeching sound.
so how do I check Boost Leak?

use your hands, feel aound the hoses for a soft spot, loose clamp on all intercooler piping, was the screech under boost ?, did it shudder ?
an popen or popped off hose will run very poorly, a split of loose hose with screech, other option is a bad bearing in PS pump, alt etc that made have stopped and made the belt slip, so if no leaks found, pull the belt and rotate everything by hand.

check all your hoses and clamp connections on your piping from the turbo to the inter cooler and from the inter cooler to the throttle body.

Also check your alternator as well as your belt tensioner...they both can make loud screeching sounds when they are shot or on their way out......I have replaced both on my car for that very reason.

I took off the serpentine belt and ran it. noise still there. it only under acceleration. if I rev it in park seems to be coming from around the turbo area . only does it under high RPM. it run fine when it doing it . keeps pulling when noise starts around 4000 RPM

The stock hoses are known to be a tad short and a tight clamp is important. Check the hose that goes from the intercooler to the turbo real good. Sometimes it looks like it is on there well, but not sealing good enough under the clamp. I am betting this is where the whistle is coming from. The other thing to check is the wheel inside the turbo. Take the hose off and make sure it doesn't have a lot of up and down play. Make sure it has not come in contact with the case. You will see a mark if it has.

Maybe you forgot to get your girlfriend/wife out from under the hood.........this could be a remote possibility for the screeching sound.........well..........these things happen, you know?

They happen only to you, Bruce. I heard you were pretty forgetful.

If its a stocker i bet the connections for ic to turbo...ic to uppipe...uppipe to tb are...old..oily..and need inspection and corrective maint. Good time to pull ic and clean it out as well.

Yup, you can bet if it is very stock and still has the passenger valve cover breather going to the turbo, you will find a whole lot of oil in your intercooler!!

And the winner is........Turbo nasty The connection for IC to Turbo clamp had slipped off and was very oily! got home last night after work
and did an inspection like you guys said. Thanks everyone who chimed in! I can now get a good night sleep.

Now put a new fuel pump on, hotwire it, add a modern chip, and a scanmaster and you will start sleeping like a baby.

Ahhh, oily hose. Means you got more than air sitting in your intercooler! After you remove the intercooler and pour out the oil, squirt a can of carb cleaner down it's throat, shake it up, pour it out and run a shop vac through it and you will pick up a few horsepower. And get rid of the stock valve cover breather.

Be careful all carb cleaners arent made the same...some will attack the paint.
