The Denver Boot may work well for the Cities because they have the vehicle info and people know there will be reckoning to be had it they F with it.

If it's not a city issued unit they can just cut it off. A sawzall with a new blade will cut through it like butter!

Don't get me wrong, i like the idea, i just seems flawed.

D

Yeah but a sawzall even cordless will create noise and attention. Whereas bolt cutters are quiet.

Only thing would be something hardened steel and then someone says "a torch" will get through it. Or disc.. but that still makes noise and is messy.

Think I came up with the best idea.. take the tire of the trailer :D and into the room with you :D

I use a simpler plan.. take the air out of the the trailer tires.. and take out the schrader valve.. ;)

You'll forgive me for saying so but that one seems pretty useless, especially on a tandem axle trailer. Lugs aren't covered. All they have to do is remove the wheel and drive off.

If you followed the thread, you would have seen the one being offered for 130.00 was the same as the 36 dollar piece. Thats why I posted it ;)

Yes I agree its useless with lugs exposed.

You mean the round type key? Like on vending machines?

yes here is one being picked by a guy with a PEN

How To Unlock a Kryptonite Lock With a Bic Pen - YouTube

my friend that repo's stop by the shop pulled a tubular pick out and opened the soda machine faster than i could put coins in it.

STAY AWAY FROM TUBULAR (ROUND) KEY LOCK, AS THE PICK IS AVAILABLE ONLINE AND IF THIEF ISN'T COMPLETELY WORTHLESS HE HAS ONE

I've got a couple, just remember to clean out the poo....

thanks for the tip! It can probably live off all the fast food left overs I leave in-between the seats of my work/tow vehicle lol. Think there is probably enough to feed a family of monkeys for a week.

If someone wants your car/truck/trailer they are going to get it. I also repoed for ten years in Chicago. I used to laugh at clubs and other anti theft devices. I had the club buster. The company bought it because they were tired of buying steering wheels:biggrin:
I used to cut the steering wheel. It was easy and fast. Boots? pop the lock and go. The American made ones were pretty tough. The china built one forget about it they are junk. I pulled a mustang and the azzhole had a snake in the car. That worked real good because I got out and left the car with the stink I made in it:biggrin: The round key design is a joke. I have a titanium key that came with a force kit. The key was made to force the round alarm locks that were in fenders. That key will break pop machine locks and boot locks with just a twist of a 3/4 wench. The only security is good insurance and thats it

Truth be told the more security items you put in place the more time it will take the thief to steal it, time is of the essence when a thief is trying to steal something. that along with noise, lights just adds to that mix and most thieves will just move onto the other item with little to no security. Period!

Simple parking techniques work wonders too! I always park my truck, open trailer & car in a well lit area, I also pull the front end of my truck up close to another car in front of it, then I have whoever is with me or also attending the same event to back me in right behind it.. this way if they want my junk they will have to hot wire two vehicles to just get to mine... This much work is usually a waste of their time and they will move onto the next one that isn't so time consuming..

Yes stuff can be cut with sawzall's, hack saws, bat powered cut off wheels Etc. but those all take time and most create noise and are cumbersome to be running and carrying to a thief...The reason those vehicles were stolen in BG were simply because there were NO theft devises on them at all and they were Easy to steal !!!

We have talked to several people about alarms and other theft deterrent devises and after doing weeks of research we have narrowed what we believe to be the best items available. We still need to nail down all the logistics of these before posting them on our site and making them available..

Ravelco and a GPS tracking with shock/tilt sensors and train horn for the alarm.

Also have a kill switch but cut power to the coil so it still turns over but doesnt fire (so they don't automatically look for the switch).

I'd remove 2 wheels, put it on stands, and put 4 or 5 different wheel locks on lugs. Its not perfect, cause they can just remove the lug locks, but removing 4 or 5 different locks, and then putting on 2 wheels is going to take a lot of time. Then add into that your alarms as well.

All about making them take as long as possible to steal your rig. I really like the train horn alarm though. That thing is LOUD.

Thats original right there.LOL. I did have a guy that had a 1/2 inch rusted chain wrapped around the steering wheel to the brake pedal and around the gas pedal .It was a 1990 tempo. It must have took him twenty mins to get that stuff unhooked. We laughed and left. I used to chain my rear axle to the grate in the curb for the city storm sewer when I lived in Chicago. I took the ecm out with me. The Glock was always ready:eek:.

This is great advice!
