I've put my daily driver up for sale. see it here:
Cars For Sale: Car Details - AutoTrader.com

I'm selling to buy a 84-87 t type driver (hopefully one of the t types on this board that I've got my eye on).
anyways, I've just listed it, and I got a email from this guy asking some questions, I responded (as you'll see in the attachment), and he responded saying he'll buy it, I've not replied yet. I've attached the emails he sent. Does this sound like a scam of some sorts? Or should I go ahead and give him my name and address and see if he sends the check?

This Is A Scam

Anytime someone offers you MORE money than you want and wants you to refund you the difference, RUN! Run, far, far, far away. Also, be very weary of anyone wanting to purchase your car for their "client", this is also a very high indicator of a scam. Stop all communication with this person and report their e-mail address to the appropriate authorities if you feel so compelled. Good luck with the sale of the car. I speak from experience on this topic.

Thief big time!!!!!!! He wants you to take it and cash it. He will grab your car quick then when it bounces he will be long gone with your car and you will be responsable for the whole amount at the bank. REALLY would suck if he has your car AND the extra cash in his hand and long gone!!! Their are people out there with ways to forge a cashiers check just as easy. The only way anymore to take payment is cash or a check and tell them they will have to wait for 14 days for it to clear before they get the car!!! Daniel Ray

I listed my car only at 3 sites
chevelles.com
t6p.com
And
tb.com
And I got a bunch of them
I just delete them
I don't even finish reading them.

thanks guys. I kind of figured as much, but he wasn't asking for any bank account info or anything like that, so that made me think,"well maybe he's legit". Part of me wants to set up a address, and show up with some of my buddies then pound the crap out of this sleazeball thats doing this to honest people.

I think if he was a genuine buyer he would ask "Turbo-related" questions.

His questions were very vague and could be applied to ANY car that was for sale.

LOL.... TELL HIM YOU ARE SO EXCITED ABOUT THE DEAL THAT YOU WILL THRO IN A BRIDGE FOR NOTHING WITH FREE SHIPPING:rolleyes:

nah its the real deal  I can't believe you had to ask if it were a scam  :p

lol! I can. This is like the second car I've ever sold I think. And I've never put a car sale ad up on the internet.

Would you ever buy a car without at least talking to the person over the phone:confused: Do not reply to any emails when selling in Autotrader, especially YAHOO or any other free internet account. If someone is really interested in your car they will call you on the phone.

Most of the time these scammers have no intention of picking up the car, all they want is for you to cash the bogus check and send them the difference in cash. Quick, easy and people still fall for it  .

Ummmmmmmm HEllo ,i read maybe 8 words and was not born yesterday........Scam,you cant see that?????

Scam....It's in the first set of words. I wonder if you could turn this around and catch the guy some how? I saw once where some guy did it but couldn't remember how.

Scam. But he's not interested in the car. You'll never see the guy, and you'll still have your car, but you'll be $8,000 in the hole. He will give you a legitmate looking cashier's check, which will clear immediately as such. You will have access to the cash immediately and you'll wire the $8,000 difference to this terrorist. A few days later your bank will find out that the cashier's check was no good and take the money back. But you've already wired $8,000 to this guy, which you are now responsible for.

Jim

But he's so nice in his emails?!! Maybe I should give it a chance just this once.

Thanks guys. I kinda figured as much, but as mentioned earlier. I've never listed a car on the internet, and have almost zero car selling exp. I hate the whole car selling thing. Its not so bad if you've got decent mature human beings that your dealing with. But when you get the idiots that don't have the money and just want to waste your time, or the morons who want to do the ignorant wheel and deal thing... well,...its as annoying as kids who yell when they post.
I appreciate all the feedback I've gotten on this. I've emailed the bastard and told him to go pound salt.

he even said "God Bless". How can he be a scammer?? nahhhhh..

Id go ahead with it and never cash the check.. LOL. just to piss him off
