my OZ code 200-4R, rebuilt last year by a reputable 200-4R specialist, developed a problem over the weekend...

It shifts great at part throttle, as it has since the trans was rebuilt. However, when I jump on it, it slides the 1-2 and 2-3 at around 2600 rpm or so. It was driving great on Friday, took it out Saturday night and noticed that happening right away. If I manually shift it, it will hold each gear.

Basically the thing feels like it goes straight through 1st and 2nd gear when I put my foot on the floor and lands in 3rd.

Any ideas what is wrong with this thing? I parked it right away so I couldn't burn anything up... Thanks in advance for any input.

Sounds like TCC solenoid....Easy repair. Drop the transmission pan, remove filter, remove and replace solenoid and button her back up. Should cost around $60 total in parts and fluid.

Interesting... its got a new solenoid in there from the rebuilder, 700-R4 style which is supposed to be more durable... maybe something else is making it lock up?

Thanks!

Check the adjustment of the T.V. cable. Either the cable is misadjusted or possible stuck throttle valve. Sounds like low T.V./pump pressure. Put a gage on the pump test port and look at your pressures.

that's what I figured... I have a gauge, I'm headed out of town for some business... I'll have to test it Sunday when I get back.

Thanks for the help.

sounds like a sticky tv limit valve.does it have modulated kickdowns at part throttle tipping into the gas?

hmmm... now that you mention it, no, it doesn't. It likes to stay in 3rd gear. If I'm in 2nd gear, and try to get it to downshift, it will rev to 2700ish and upshift to 3rd.
