Sized up after oil change, didn’t even start the engine.

Battery is fine; the starter is sized up. No movement at all. And it is only 4 months old. So it is being replaced free.

Just moves in the reverse direction so when I rotated the engine backwards, the Bendix disengaged from the flywheel.

But the engine turns over with the ratchet, no metal on metal noise.

Thank goodness it was something simple. Always start with the basics first with these cars. But, assume the worse....lol

We will find out for sure tomorrow morning when the new starter going in.

But the God awful noise it made , I thought something really bad happened.

Hopefully all is well and you'll be doing a big burnout with it tomorow!

If it is repair tomorrow, I might go to LVD Sunday. And break it up there

The starter will most likely fix the starting problem.

But what about that piece of .025 metal that was on the magnetic drain plug?

John

That does have me concerned. We shall see.

When I looked at it under the scope this morning it looked like a weld slag /slug.
It did not have any sides on it that where shining or of a different shade than the rest of it.

I lost it at work , picked it up with the tip of my finger and it fell on to the carpet and I could not find it after. I looked for about 15 minutes and could not find it.

If they did not vacuum this weekend , I will look again Monday, but it is most likely gone.

If you have even saw a bad weld , it looked like on of the little "boogers" from a bad weld. (sorry that is the best way I can describe it).

From what you're saying that piece of metal doesn't sound like anything that could have come from the engine. Is it possible that maybe the magnet picked something up when you set the plug down while doing a previous oil change? If you had some sort of internal failure going on I would think you'd find several shavings or chips on the magnet, not a single blob. My $.02.

It could be.

I would cut the old filter apart and look at it to see if there is more metal.
Good luck with figuring it out.

It is Fixed and running ! It was the starter . Runs nice and quite.

I am relieved.

Has for the small plug of metal ? it was the only piece on the magnet. along with a small amount of the normal gray stuff about the same amount if you added them up.

The filter is buried in the bottom of a dumpster, other wise I would cut it open.
