So if I already didn't have enough problems with a GN...

My grandfather just told me I can have his Chevy Monza Spyder, I forgot what year it is but he built a mild chevy 350, 4 barrel 550 holley with a Muncie M22 4 speed. Only problem is, it has an open rear with 2.73 gears, so that will need to be changed. He said it is a Camaro Rear end though, anybody know what kind of rear that would be? Probably an old Camaro rear.

Could be a 10 or a 12 bolt rear...id saya 10 bolt. I.could be wrong also..

True, he said that you can find a posi unit with ease. So hopefully this will be a fun little car to play with. He said the motor is probably making around 300 hp, hopefully to the wheels! Once I get it, it may get some heads, and a bigger carb....hehe.

It's a 7.5"/7.625" diff and the gears are very specific to the car. I do have a rear with 3.42 gears in them if you're interested. You might want to visit Hbody.org on how to modify it. The H body chassis is very flexible and needs some help, but it was my first and second car and love the design.

That's what he was telling me as well Charlie, the frame is flexible and if I modify the engine before doing any mods to support the frame, it will twist. I wouldn't do anything to the motor until I get those garbage highway gears out!

I may have to take you up on that offer once the car is IN my possession ;). First on the list is a longblock for the GN though.... :(

Get hold of FuzzyGN (Erik) or dr_frankenstein (Aj) on mods. All three of us are fans of the H body platform. I used to use mine for SCCA street modified but the negative caster will cause handling issues. If I remember right, you need to swap the right and left upper and lower arms as well as use a set of G body knuckles to go to positive caster and bigger brakes. I welded the body seams in the front that helped quite a bit with the flexing.

Negative caster huh? Is it adjustable in back? Don't know if I fully understood that. Lol

The adjustment for caster and camber are on the upper arms. The rear is a solid axle just like a G. B, or A body car and isn't adjustable without lower arms that you can adjust.

the stock rear end is OK at best but some stickys and power shifts on that 4 speed will drop its guts everywhere. you can use S10 gears in the rear, but some modifacations need to be done to fit it all in. same goes for the S10 rear axles, which need a shave down to fit right but will provide the 5 lug patteren. V8 monza .com will supply the needed fron suspension adapters to bolt on G-body spindles for 5 lug up front. Id start there and decide later if you want to stiffen it up more.

Cool! Thanks guys. I'm going to pick up the csr next week, it needs some tires and needs to be registered with a Florida title....so I won't be able to really get into it for a couple months. Will keep you posted.

Question- I know this is a very general question, but he was telling me it is running about 10.5.1 CR, is this a little much with pump gas? Depends on timing?
