so no amateur power lifters here? anyone compete? I don't due to injuries
pops is insane, 70 years old, 181 pound class, benches 400+ like butter (countless city, county, state, national and world records). He used to compete in all 3 but as he got older strickly just benches now.
that wilks formula is somewhat accurate, I prefer it to use age as another variable to points because AGE is relevant imho, well when calculating for best lifter at least. Its not really fair when an old guy is competing against a young blood, but no matter my pops wins most of the time anyways. I guess its not really fair for the young bloods to compete for best lifter against real champions. Against guys who not only have countless records but they actually only break the old existing record by a few pounds so next year they can come back and break their own record again lol, thats NUTS!
This Wilks Value of 124.033 is for a Man with a body weight of 82.1 kgs and a lift amount of 407 Pounds. No gay music, no slapping in the face, no yelling, no roids needed. TECHNIQUE is the key, balance, focus, and centering your mind and body as 1 to complete your bench. Not getting pumped up like a meat head imho but of course, I weigh 155 and can't even bench the bar. But I have only lived with a world champ for 28 years of my life, what the f do I know.
Rudy Lozano will be @ the staples center for the Fit Expo coming up, and again he will be benching over 400 hopefully if he can stay healthy.
props to all CALM, dedicated powerlifters out there, its a very intense sport. but in that sport you quickly find out who wants it and who doesn't. I lost count how many "tuff guys" I sent to work out with my dad and they last a few weeks lol but most of them don't like the pain (which is needed). I can go on, they don't like the diet needed, the rest, the recovery ect ect. Its a BIG cylce and it has to be completed in order to get stronger the right way.
thats enough, have a great day lifters!
