Jesus Bryan, you were staring at her all day long!

With the Fairlane I was told he broke something in the front suspension and it happened when he landed. Don't know for sure, but either way, it was close.

I was hoping to run around 12.8 for elimination, at around 111-112 mph, since i wasnt leaving hard and not locking the convertor up during T/T I forgot to open the dump pipe up also. so i wasnt running 26 psi anyways, but o well, first time racing and learning the car. It'll come around.

Did anyone find out what happened to that Ford Fairlane that crossed the centerline during eliminations and the TB barely squeeked on by without getting hit while the Fairlane continued on over to brush the wall and then continued rolling down the track slowly to the finish line?
Appeared that he broke a tie rod or something on the launch, but since he didn't just hit the brakes maybe he passed out or something??

Oh, nice pic Bryan ;) I don't recall seeing that one walkng around, unless she was the one sitting in the golfcart all day.

Believe me when i tell you this, the front was MUCH nicer than the back...

She actually stopped traffic when she walked over towards our group, jesus she was HOTTTTTT
Here is what mine looked like at the track, didnt get to meet up with many folks, cept Jack Cotton, he was nice to shoot the breeze with.
It was a good event, will be going again next year.

I agree it was a great event, and I will be going again next year as well. Hopefully our team gets the win next year.

We did really well when it came to the 11-13 sec classes, but those 10 sec and under Fords killed us. It was hard for us to win the last few races because they brought out around 7 or 8 fully sponsored race cars. Actually, most of the fast Fords seemed like pure race cars non tagged and so forth, while as most of our turbo regals are cars, that can actually be street driven.

P.s. did anyone see that allen wrench in my drag radial

I think most of those sponsered cars were there for the NHRA make-up event that was to be held Friday that was then canned because of high wind till Sunday..so if they were already at the track, why not participate if their doors functioned.

Bryan,

I'll be there next year. We should hook-up in the months to come and i'd hope to get my car tuned a little. I need someone who knows more about these cars then me. Just some things i need to get figured out really.

Any Race Pics??? Bryan your white car looks funny w/o the Americans on it!

Thanks for the pic

My car is the Hotair (intercooled) car pictured there. I had a blast and finally got to race my car. It has been almost 2 years since I have actually raced the car. I didnt run the numbers I was hoping to run, but I came not expecting the car to run extremely well so I wasnt disappointed. My dad, brother, and I did take a full second and 7 mph off the time by tuning it in 4 runs so that was pretty good. I also forgot what the positions were on my ultrachip so I didnt want to go crazy with it.

speaking of sandbags.......

I ran 13.8 @99.3 mph in the eliminations to the mustang's 12.20. I have forgotten the mph. I thought my car was just extremely slow the last run, but when I got my slip I knew I had been got.

Nice matching of ets :-) A full second and 6 tenths

Fun times

Ermm.. well.. Ive had a Camaro, a Subaru WRX and 2 Mustangs since so I'd say its been about 7 or 8 years.

The car had a 115,000k stock long block in it with a Whipplecharger and some other stuff on it when I sold it. I saw it at a dyno day at LG Motorsports about a year after I sold it and the next time I saw it, it had a NA motor in it.

The sad part is the only reason I sold the car is because the back window got broken at First Saturday in Dallas and when the Ford dealership in Lewisville replaced it, they poked a hole in the top and I made them replace it. They completely hosed up the weatherstripping, broke a bunch of the trim, etc and wouldn't fix it. Got so disgusted, I just sold the car.

Sorry Jay, I don't think that was your car but just a twinky... Matt Hamilton of Edmond OK is the owner and he's had the car since before 2000 (before I moved to tx). It was relatively stock when I rode it in in 1999..

It is goofy though.. The convertible I believe has run low 10's on the bottle. I always joke with Matt about building a lighter car instead, but heck.. I own a heavy a$$ buick.

Ford Fairlane

The steering joint was pulled apart on the wheels up launch.. car came down and the driver had no control.

That is what I heard and sounded reasonable.

Hopefully more 9 second & quicker cars will show up next year. Maybe it was the div 4 guys that made the bump but it really hurt us. I ran 10.44 early in the day & slowed to 10.50's with the heat but got paired with a mustang that ran 9.90's in qualifying-and the guy said the car has run 9.60's. Not exactly a close race, anyway something happened to him at about the eighth mile & I cruised past him for a buick win. Too bad more of us couldn't have been blessed as I was. Can't wait till next year & I will try to step the car up a little & do my part.

Its not just how fast the car is John, its how good you are on the light and able to run consistantly too.
I too won my race, the 03 cobra i raced got a .50x light compared to my sleepy .20x light, he actually went faster than i did, but i won because i got a better reaction.
We only lost by 2, so if everyone quits redlighting, then we would do better!

Good to see you again, let us know when you plan to swing into kansas city again.

Hey Brian, I am planning on coming down next sunday weather permitting. I know the lights can make a world of difference but the way I see it one more 9 sec buick would have put all the rest of us against the next slower ford on the list. There were some of the div 4 guys running that I'm sure would not have been there otherwise, and I agree we had a lot of red lights. I think some folks got a little ancy & tried leaving harder than their brakes would allow. Anyways, we had a blast win or lose and congrats on your win. We were in the stands cheering for you. Hope to see you next sunday if your there.

John

John,

If you're going to KCIR this coming sunday, I will be there also!

I'm gonna be doing some changes to the car, and i should be able to run 12's VERY easy.

I just needed to launch harder at Noble to get a good time and i wasnt locking the convertor durin elimnations.

Hope to see you and Bryan at KCIR next sunday.

162??? I highly doubt it.

How do we get in touch with the guy who was taking wheelie photo's at the track there that day?

I didnt know he was selling the photos until the races were starting.

Thanks
BW

The sand bagger was racing one of our local club members who was running runs low 11's that day, TrboHead on this board. Yes the stang ran a 162mph pass

I think that guy deserves the "Ultimate Sandbagger Award", lol. A 162 MPH trap speed = enough power to run low 8's (with traction).
I think Im gonna do the same when I race next year, maybe slow down just a sec. or two.....
