Hey there-

Where do you live? Maybe I could go chalk up that Moosewang for ya! It would be my pleasure. :D

If u want to leave your car relatively stock considering it is in proper running condition like tune up stuff plugs, wires, ect, and u want to kick ass good one time. You need two things adjustable wastegate, race gas 110,raise boost to 18 pounds that should do it most those pos mudstains run in the 13.7-14.2 range the autos being slower.Do not race him from a roll 50mph go from a dead stop get em off da line da rest is history unless he is heavily modded, most stang drivers can't get there cars to hook up and usually miss shifts once u unload gobs amount of buick torque from a dig by trying to catch up.This assumes the stang is stocker even if he has exhaust u should get em.

I had a 99 cobra with a built solid rear, 4.56's, and about 330rwhp. This is a realistic low 12 combo with DR's...some have run as quick as 11.60's with a couple hundred pounds taken off, slicks and something like 305rwhp. A few months before selling it, I raced wiked87GN (Kevin). There is a video of it on turbobuicks.net called GN kills Cobra. My traction was so god awful poor that I had to launch in 2nd and slip the clutch like crazy, and shift like a grandma cause it was a crappy road with alot of gravel and I had 2 year old hard ass tires. Kevin killed me out of the hole really bad cause he's pretty well set up for launches, and can ease it out of the hole pretty gently. The auto's are pretty nice for launching on the street. Alot less shock to the tires like I mentioned. Anyway, I burned the tires HARD till about 60mph, (used to be 90mph when I had the blower) at which point I was about 2 1/2 - 3 cars behind him. His tires were pelting my windshield bad with gravel. I held that distance the rest of the way, but in the video, the camera guy was well after the 1/4 mile mark, and I had no idea where he was. By the time I pass the camera, I had already been on the brakes (you can see my brake lights as I pass), so it looks like an 8 car length kill. Earlier in the race you can see Im not that far off. Basically what Im getting at, is a lightly modded stang with gears can launch VERY hard if they can hook. But without a good hook, you're ****ed. I was beyond a bad hook. I was SMOKING those tires hard for a long time. I wanted to race from a roll but it never happened. I think Kevins car was a 7.6 in the 1/8 mile car at the time. If you throw in the race gas, turn the boost up, and throw some sticky tires on and practice your launch, you will probably take him. Given its just a GT, they're not that fast especially if its not very modded. A cammed, naturally aspirated 99-04 GT can make something like 260rwhp. Ported heads, cams and all the other bolt ons can get them to around 290rwhp.

Where are you located?
I'll let you borrow my car. :D
11's on pump gas and street tires. That should beat him.

Hey Ray remember the Tow truck driver?

He asked me who's car was the fastest out of all the cars, I told him yours "The blue one", and said, "Man that thing was fast as hell, it took off and just blew past me." He said the only reason he even got up because he thought one of us would sale the broke car, sorry Mr B. forgot to tell you about that, but I told him, "Oh, NO Way, He is now getting ready to just make it faster.
I knew when he saw our cars it was going to freak him out, He said, What the He""l is going on here.
Later Ray, talk to ya soon.

I agree with getting a scan tool to see where you stand. You may also want to take a trip to the track. (read up on how to luanching your GN if your a newbie) Before you do any mods or racing you want to make sure your GN is upto par. With your basically stock GN you should be around 14.0 +/- a couple tenths. If you slower than you need to figure out whats wrong... Once you have a good baseline, a couple of mods you should be able easily dust that Mustang :)

Traction

Mustangs are notorious for bad traction, on stock rubber the kid will probably eat a fence before he even gets going. Good advice above, race gas if you can find it and up the boost. Beating the little turd should make you appreciate that granny car and what can be done with it

I say dont waste ur time.

Hes a punk, that thinks hes got a fast car! The best thing about our cars is two GNs can look exactly alike but an unmolested GN will run mid 13s and a well modded GN can run 10.90s or quicker. Let him keep wondering, the talk might stop if he runs into a modded GN and takes a beating. which makes me wonder where ur at? Maybe another board member can take a shot before u get things done to ur car. :D

don't know about 1/4 mile times but at our local 1/8 mile track some new stangs were running low 9's 1/8 mile. I would think that's HIGH 13's.

these 2 still had the dealer drive out tags on them. My wife wants one and we drove one, I wasn't that impressed.

But then again, I have a turbo regal

If the punk kid has manual trans, chances are he needs to know his car and know how to shift fast before he can get into the 13's, if not you can toast him with what you have now. BTW, if he tells you that you are driving a granny car, tell him that people admire and give a thumbs up to a GN more than a brand new mustang. :D

True. I had a very nice black 99 cobra. Really quick and sounded great. I got maybe 1 thumbs up in 5 years. It took me like 4-5 months to sell it.
With the GN, I either get an offer to buy it or a thumbs up, or an "awesome car" at least every other day.

I HATE MUSTANGS@!!!@!@# Welll i shouldnt say that. I hate the mentality that goes along with 80% of mustang drivers which is buy a stock 14 second car for your first car cuz its the only POS you can afford and all of a sudden you are the fu**ing street hero. I own the rights to slowmustangs.com and soon we can all post vids of these sh** talking ego tripping kids getting walked all over by our grocery getters.

I love to ask them, "hey, is that a fast car?", then proceed to embarrass the hell out of them in front of their friends. My T is a funky gold color/tan interior, and in need of a paint job. Runs like a scalded dog though, and it's tons of fun!! Asked a Mazda RX-7/LT-1 hybrid for a race last summer. He asked if I was serious. It was a dead heat, and I got the standard, "what the hell you got in that thing?" Gotta love these cars!!

Uhhh...I was involved with alot of stang guys for a long time..I was one myself. I definetely wasnt one of these loudmouths you talk about. It seemed 80% of them were nice, humble and intelligent people. It has nothing to do with the cars. It has to do with the small portion of small dick compensating, insecure jackasses with something/nothing to prove and nothing else to live for. And those types, drive cars of all types. Go to corral.net sometime and have a look around. For the most part, you wont find any of these people you talk about. I did notice the times I went to LS1.com, there were alot of loudmouthed jerks there, but thats more a reflection of the administrators and what they let people get away with. Point is, there are ass holes in every bunch. GM owners arent exempt from this either. In fact, most mustang guys on those boards show alot of respect to the GM guys. Too bad its never reciprocated. "Hey man, thats a bad ass camaro!" "**** you rustang boy take your piece of **** home!" I cant count the number of times Ive seen this happen. When I told all the guys on the stang boards that i was buying a GN, they all complimented my taste and said they were some of the baddest cars around. Now when it comes to import kids, I can say that 80% of them truly have a serious inferiority complex and never pass up the chance to show what morons they are. Cant count the number of times Ive been cruising down the freeway only to look in my mirror and see some Honda on my ass, and swirling around me trying to instigate something. I call it chihuahua complex. A chihuahua barks and barks and growls and never shuts up...always trying to show how bad it is. You bark back and they run away yelping. Now a Rottweiler wont make a noise at all. Mess with it, and it looks away. Mess with it again, it stays patient. Mess with it again, it will take a chunk out of your ass without making a sound. Import=Chihuahua. GN=Rottweiler. :D
