Brick,

New one for ya! (Maybe new Hero?) Derek Leach with a T weighing in at 3200 lbs. with driver went 10.10@130 on 36 PSI at Cecil yesterday. You asked if a TSO car could do 9's on a 66? I think so. I don't know the rules for the class but this car was stock 109 block, iron heads, TH-400 with brake, FAST, 72's, 9" Ford, FM, Studded heads with stock gaskets, no caps, no girdle, .040" hyperutectic pistons (competition for Banning)!, T-66 4 bolt turbo. His last pass he stalled on the line and went a 10.26 on a 10.15 dial. He was running a PT-53 turbo earlier in the day at 29 PSI going 10.50's then swapped to the 66.

You know that tss run stock 2004r trans a 3 bolt turbo and they weigh around 3600 lbs . Those are good numbers but if you consider tss cars have run 10.20s with stock location intercooler if you where to ad the weight you would be in the ballpark but the car does not meet the rules. I assume this car does not have ac. at 3200 . Congrats on your new best time .:)

I have the class wrong....TSS. Okay, no A/C, no inner fenders, full interior, fuel cell and don't know the rest. I was just amazed at the boost level and power he was putting through this motor build. No knock and running fat makes it all happen!

do the math...my 3700 lb car at 127 mph is making as much power as that lightweight (maybe more?) so the 3600 lb TSS cars are off the chart

now, if I could just shed 500 and still have air and seats:)

amazing what a few pounds will do!

Yes, that was a pretty impressive run (and car)!

How much power do you figure the 9" and TH-400 is eating? Maybe 60 HP? 3700 lbs... Is that with you in it or just the car? :) If just the car.... you have a fat one:D LOL

naw, the car weighs 3500...the rest is me.....

I reckon the '400 is eating some HP vs my 200..most folks say it is 1.-.2 vs a 200...so maybe more like 30 hp

Jesse, those times are impressive to me even though the car is about 400lbs lighter than the TSS cars....... I think what impresses me the most is how he's making that motor live considering it's a stock 109 block without caps or a girdle and it also has those hyper pistons...... He must be a good tuner and having a FAST system also helps!

I would be willing to bet money that with a 200r4 tranny and a factory 8.5" 10-bolt rear he would be in the 9's!!! I'd say 9.80-9.70's @134+mph to be exact........ That TH-400 and Ford 9" is NOT helping him at all, although, I guess his thinking is they are both stronger and at his power level he thinks he needs them......
Running that kind of boost without popping a head gasket is awesome and I give the guy respect for doing things differently from what others and most on this board think is possible!!!
:)
