guys

tss is not stock appearing
or Richards bone stock rules

cut and pasted from last years proposed class\/

“Bone stock” TR class qualifying ET 13.9

The bone stock tr class is intended to provide a race class for cars that are stock appearing. Unlike the TSS class where some visible mods are allowed for performance reasons virtually all of those will not be allowed in this class. This means if we can SEE it and its not how the car was delivered its not allowed. Or put another way if you have to ask if its ok------ its not!

Suspension :
NO frame mods or reinforcements, stock wheel base, stock unmodified control arms front and rear in original locations, since all the cars didn’t come with the same bushing compliment you can have them in all locations as long as they are GM bushings. No braces that didn’t come on the car. 8.5 inch 10 bolt GM rear with stock stamped cover. Stock size sway bars front and rear required with black bushings. Stock appearing brakes, drums back, disc front. Any type stock appearing shocks in stock location----any color ok. No air bags Car must sit at =/- one inch of stock ride height (this would be ________ from road surface to frame rail)

Engine compartment
109 block with no EXTERNAL mods, all original equipment intact and functioning—no deletions or additions that aren’t supported by build tag on inside trunk lid, Stock air box and snorkel any filter element, original size battery in stock location with original type side terminals, original waterpump manifold etc original appearing starter and 120A alternator, original GM headers with heat shields intact---may be welded for repair purposes, original downpipe with original type wastegate and solenoid----wastegate may be modified to make it adjustable, stock appearing turbo with stock inlet bell with vent intact---turbo must fit under unmodified shield mounted in stock location with stock bracket, stock appearing MAF (AC moulded with down turned plug) and OEM flex hose, stock intercooler with stock inlets/outlets, any size injectors in 6 stock locations, NO POWER ADDERS UNLESS THEY ARE TOTALLY INVISIBLE TO TEC JUDGES---IF WE SPOT IT---- ITS OUT!!! 8445 heads installed with GM TTY bolts with NO external mods (this includes logos), stock unmodified valve covers with oem filler cap, stock radiator and core, additional underhood wiring with no additions/deletions that aren’t supported by option tag-----only exceptions 1-alarm, 2- single relay and wiring for fuel pump upgrade, AC may be converted to R-134 and must be operational, powermaster with stock reservoir

Tranny
2004R with no external mods except for 2nd servo, stock pan and driveshaft---loop ok, any convertor or transbrake as long as it is not visible under or inside the car,

Tires/wheels
Any matched set of 15” or 16” steel or aluminum wheels allowed-------tires must be 275 or less DOT radials-----NO SLICKS

Interior
Full stock interior matching build sheet, stock shifter, only addition to gauges is boost and it must be pillar or console mounted, radio may be upgraded but must fit in stock location with no visible parts elsewhere

Exterior
No fiberglass body parts except for bumper fillers, stock operating glass windows and windshield, full size OEM aluminum or steel bumper supports, use of aluminum supports do not have to match build sheet _______in trunk, bumper shocks must be original/unmodified, no mods to sheet metal, fenders etc

Fuel system
Factory stock appearing tank, no visible additions to tank or pumps except for relay and wire upgrade, stock rail and lines

Exhaust
Downpipe must attach to stock elbow in stock fashion, downpipe must route in stock location, no flexpipe, stock appearing cat must be in stock location—may be allowed but must be able to pass a 50 state VISUAL inspection, any single or dual exhaust allowed but must function (muffle) and exit in stock location, must be 2.5 inch or less pipes past “Y” connection at cat

The rules above are no where close to what I read when I was at his shop. Stock appearing means stock appearing....even black clamps on hoses. I love the ideal of the class I just do not like some of the things I was hearing while I was there, like the fact that you could run NOS if it can't be seen or you can run a f.a.s.t system as long as it can be seen. Granted Richard did not make these comments but that was the talk. Create a stock class with clear rules and I would love to play but no way if the rules are not clear.

if your talking about my cut and paste post
you better go back to the shop then-

those are his last years proposed rules

and they are clear-
-things aren't always what they appear- they just have to look like stock
cant get much easier then that

This is a JOKE
( additions that aren’t supported by build tag on inside trunk lid) mine fell off 20 years ago !

(Car must sit at =/- one inch of stock ride height ) park 4 Turbo cars side by side and they will no way have the same ride height ! so who is to say what the stock height is?

(Outer frame rail notching is allowed.) i ordered my car from GM like this its what came on the car stock

(This means if we can SEE it and not how the car was delivered its not allowed. Or put another way if you have to ask if its ok------ its not!)

Get the point the rules are not clear cut ! how do you let a notched rear frame rail in this class and turn around and say if its how the car was dllivered its allowed

should i go on ?

ILL TRY TO ANSWER-for what its worth
This is a JOKE

( additions that aren’t supported by build tag on inside trunk lid) mine fell off 20 years ago !--NOT MY PROBLEM - MINES FINE STILL THERE TOO

(Car must sit at =/- one inch of stock ride height ) park 4 Turbo cars side by side and they will no way have the same ride height ! so who is to say what the stock height is? - RICHARD AND FACTORY SPECS WHICH STILL EXIST

(Outer frame rail notching is allowed.) i ordered my car from GM like this its what came on the car stock  HUH?NO FRAME MODS AT ALL- PERIOD- NOT ALLOWED

(This means if we can SEE it and not how the car was delivered its not allowed. Or put another way if you have to ask if its ok------ its not!)

Get the point the rules are not clear cut ! how do you let a notched rear frame rail in this class and turn around and say if its how the car was dllivered its allowed - AGAIN NO MODS THAT WERE NOT THERE AND CAN BE SEEN

should i go on ?
dont really care if you go on or not- someones always gonna bitch

heres an idea though that ive posted before

put up your own $1000 + dollars
make up some rules
see if any one cares

If this was directed towards me NO I wasn't talking about your cut and paste from above. There was an earlier post of the old TFS rules above that now appeared to be deleted, I guess I should have quoted them when I posted. I do have a copy of the new 2008 proposed rules but I would not feel right posting them or picking them apart, as that is not my intent.

What kind of rule is this??

NO POWER ADDERS UNLESS THEY ARE TOTALLY INVISIBLE TO TEC JUDGES---IF WE SPOT IT---- ITS OUT!!!

One of the craziest rules I have ever seen. This class should not be allowed any power adders at all.

why not?-puts the fun back in racing

you can only go so fast on a stock turbo

why not?-puts the fun back in racing

you can only go so fast on a stock turbo

the rules state
a stock appearing turbo with stock inlet bell

So you can go very fast with a stock appearing turbo then add a power add to the mix this class will be out of controll

guess the next one is PRO TREE

I think this would be a very fun class to run , it should have some very simple clear cut rules that would allow a guy to drive 7 + hours to get to the Nats and race his car for very little cash . should have some cool rules like . all cars in this class must run driver and one occupant . that way your old lady can screem the whole way down the track all day . it would be a blast

you can only go so fast on a stock turbo

So hiding a n2o system is encouraged?? Some people probably would like to see a heads up class that's 100% stock appearing but c'mon. Depending on the tech to find a hidden power adder...please:rolleyes:

So you can go very fast with a stock appearing turbo then add a power add to the mix this class will be out of controll

i like the way you think- shawn

So hiding a n2o system is encouraged??

wrong- appearing is encouraged

not cutting up the car is encourage

stock looking parts are encouraged

anything outside of that is your craftsmanship/ building skill and tunning

if your good enough -can install stealthy- and drive decent is all it takes

Some people probably would like to see a heads up class that's 100% stock appearing but c'mon. Depending on the tech to find a hidden power adder...please:rolleyes:
this is not a democracy- if it ever comes to pass there may be more subtle changes to the class until then

some people would like to see allot of changes to alot of race classes besides this proposed one-i see they are not happening either

reality is most people dont put up money or organize anything for anybodys benefit on here

most just complain about how they would have done it on the internet

it is what it is
the rule makers will make the rules and do the tech- visual inspection(again)
cant emphasis this enough- cause nobody understands it

if you worth your salt on a clean unseen install of dfi-nos whatever
you could be be the highest paid winner of all the classes

I like the idea but I've raced with this club for almost 10 years so I understand the politics involved in these classes. Those that have raced in BG know exactly what happens in any class other than TSM and TSO when it comes to tech decisions. I'll keep quiet and just see how this one turns out.

Where are the rules??? Can someone post the official 2008 rules? How can this class even happen if no one has time to get a car ready? The Nationals are only 3 months away. Any real class info would be appeciated.

Thanks, Craig

id call kirbans if anyones interested-
he states they are on the gsca website but haven't seen them

its gonna happen-------its officially TSA------- turbo stock appearing-----------it has taken me weeks to get the rules approved since there are so many folks to satisfy-------its not exactly what i originally envisioned but i'm satisfied overall------lots of politics and protocol in Bowling Green-------prize money has been forwarded to person responsible for sponsors----------1600 for first, 800 for second and 500 for third------- purse is doubled if car also scores above a certain score in the concours class----------i realize that time is short but how long should it take to get a "stock" car ready---------i have been waiting for several days to see the rules get posted on the GSCA website but they don't seem to get posted-------tomorrow i am gonna call and see whats holding it up---------if they dont show up by the end of the week i will put them up here............RC
