By installing a wide band and using the same stock servo apply pin, should my clearance have changed from disassemnbly?
What I am asking is before dis-assembly I measured the movement of the cover and it took .100" before I could not move the output shaft in one direction (the other moved freely).

Someone posted a while back that there is a direct correlation btw the band clearance and the cover movement.

Now it only takes .005" before I cannot move the output shaft in the one direction. Do I have something wrong here?

Paul

Either have to get a shorter pin or shorten the one you have.

When I put in the wide band I had less clearance too.

You're putting in a different band. Do you know for sure that the length from the anchor to apply point is exactly the same as before? Probably not, therfore the clearance will change. Nothing wrong, need a new pin.

MARK OR BRUCE AT PTS?????

If sounds like anytime you install a wide band that the clearance will change and a new apply pin length is required. Why don't the supplier of these parts tell us that (if in fact it is the case)?
How do I determine the pin length I need? What sizes do they come in? What is the final clearance I should be shooting for?

I know all about setting clearances in these things it seems, ha.

You can just grind a bit of the one you have. Shoot for .060 to .090 clearance.

Paul and I spoke already this AM on this subject, and for everyone else, the clearence is great. There is no need to grind anything and there is no reason to buy or supply a new apply pin with the kit. If you are having a problem, that is why we have put together our adjustable pin kit. In the vast majority of times, there is no need for it unless someone is putting together something with a desired setting to it.

I decided to call PTS and spoke with Mark. He advised me thru Bruce that my .005" travel as measured on the servo cover before band locked on drum was just right.

I was just worried that it may have been too tight and I would burn up the new band but Mark assured me it was not. I feel a whole lot better now.

Thanks again to the guys at PTS for excellent service.
