does the pan on what you have look like any of these?

You've got a turbo 350 tranny, not a 2004R. The Regal came with the 4 speed tranny only if it had the turbo engine from 83 up or a V8.

Most likely a 200C 3-speed in there, unless someone swapped in a 350 trans. Easy to confuse the 200C and 350 pans when peeking under the car.

There is an easy way to tell a TH350 from a TH200....count the pan bolts. TH200 has 11 pan bolts; TH350 has 13. You'll have to crawl under and look straight up to count.

so 200-c 3 speed i cant use

You could use the TH200 but it's a light duty trans and might not live long behind your turbo 6. If you had the TH350 you might be ok.

All 81-87 regals turbo or not can have either 2004r or 200c unless someone swapped to 350. Easiest way to tell 350 from 200c is the 350 will have a vacum modulator. If you are using a 2004r trans you must have 83-up trans for ecm car and 81-82 trans for non ecm car

Not true. My 83 NA has a stock turbo 350 in it. It has never been out of it. Look at the bottom of the pan and see if it says metric or not. If it doesn't the it's a turbo 350. If it does then it's a 200. The 200 can be built fairly well and is much lighter than the 350.

well its confirmed i have a 200c trans so is it ok to use for now till i get a 200r4 trans. i cant afford one at the moment but can i at least get buy for 3months. using the 200c transmission.

Charlief1 is your car a 307 v8 car? I have worked in a tranny shop over 15yrs and have never seen a 350 factory installed in 81-up gbody. Not saying i dont believe you just rare. Actually if trans was original it would be a 350c or poss a 250c. Both have 4 prong elec plug right above driverside pain rail on case. 250 c will also band adj on pass side of case next to accumulator cover. Btw where at in texas?

i understand we sapose to meet and greet here but can some one answer my question is the 200c tranny gonna work for a lil bit till i get my 200r4 trans.

thanks man. im glad for the info. now i can do my work and rest alittle bit. but when do you recomend that i switch to a 200r4 trans asap. or the 200c will buy me a lil or a great deel of time.

In between Waco and DFW. It really is an turbo 350 tranny and I'll be tearing it apart soon for parts for my turbo car, it seems. It doesn't have "metric" on the bottom of the pan and I counted the bolts on the bottom of the pan just to make sure,

The 200 will work if you don't beat on it.

The 200 will hold up fine if you're willing to spend some money to build it. Weighs about the same as a powerglide and has 3 gears instead of two after all.

Charlie is right! I had a 1981 Regal with the NA 3.8 VIN code A engine. It had a 350C trans from the factory. Just because you've never seen one doesn't mean that the factory didn't build them. 350's are quite reliable compared to the early 200's and 200-4Rs and I can understand why you may never have seen one.
