Hello everyone,
I'm planning on making 600+HP with engine.
The 200R4 trans is now headed to rebuild shop. My question to you guys is what should be upgraded inside the trans? Besides the normal like new clutches, wider band, shift kit, and new gaskets. What else should be done? Shop charging me $1000 bucks not including upgrades. Any help appreciated.
Mike.

Hope your shop is very familiar with the 200-4R's (they can be quirky).
$1,000 + parts isn't cheap….why not support one of the proven 200-4R specialists . My suggestion would be to contact one of the several transmission vendors on the board who are experts with these transmissions. Lonnie Diers at Extreme Automatics, Dave Husek at Turbo Buick Performance or Vince Janis at Janis Transmissions would be my first choice. "Just saying" .

I can supply you with the correct parts for your power level. Feel free to contact me anytime.

Not just anyone can build these right.......If they havent built a lot of these that have run in the tens that can be verified, I would go elsewhere quickly. Been there, it sucks to have to have it redone on your dime.

If you're planning on 600+ to the ground, I would agree w/the guys above, go w/a vender that is reputable. Depending on your location, there ius Dave above, lonnie Diers of extreme automatics,(I have his stage III rated @1000hp) and Chris of CK to name a few well respected ones.
Hope this helps.

I would just go through the awkwardness and get the tranny back and send it to a known good builder(names above) and get it built once. There are many, many, many people that have already gone through this. Just sayin.

I purchased a kit through Dave but I didn't rebuild it myself. I took it to a guy that was familiar with these transmissions. Dave was very helpful from diagnosing what was wrong with the trans in the first place on up to the point of purchasing a new converter. Can't go wrong with any vendor since they all take pride in what they do. I'll be posting feedback about the trans and converter in about a month.
