Trans fresh from rebuilder.
Shifts strange enough to make me suspicious; my suspicions confirmed when I look at direct scan.

Car running, in park-- P/N and 4th gear indicator is on.
Drive slowly go into 2nd gear --4th and TCC indicator is on.
up to highway speed 3rd gear indictor on no TCC or 4th iindicators.
I do not get lock up at higher speed even at part throttle.

Never had the pan off on this unit. less than 200 miles.

What to check? test(s) to perform?

PS Has new 10in convertor too...

The rebuilder may have replaced the 4th gear switch with the wrong one. The switches are suppose to be N.C. (normally closed). He may have replaced the switch with a N.O. (normally open) switch. Pull the pan, check the wiring, and check the 4th gear switch to see if it is open or closed. (Make sure you still have your BR valve body)

Called rebuilder performed following test:

Unplug 4 pin connector both lights should be on.
They are.
Go for drive should shift good 1-3 but no TCC.
It does.
Replug connector.
P/N on, 3 goes out, 4 stays on.
Driving car normally after 2nd gear, 4th gear indicator goes out. 3rd comes on.
He says 4th pressure switch no good.
I never get the TCC* light during run and it seems the car is in L/U but not sure since the ECM doesnt see the 4th gear sw.

It sounds like the 4th gear switch is acting reverse of what it should be. I have never seen one act like that. They usually work or they don't. Yours is acting like a normally open switch rather than a normally closed switch. Are you sure the rebuilder didn't replace it? Pull the pan and replace the switch with the correct one. While your in there make sure you have the correct valve body.

Dropped the pan and swapped sw. with one I had out of a spare trans, now 4th gear ind. and TCC dont light at all.
:(
But it shifts fine.
I unplugged the connector and 3rd and 4th both light.
I do get LU because if I shift from D into OD rpms drop.
(this is not a BRF trans its another series VB "modified to the same specs" there was no core.

Did you replace the correct switch? Are you sure you didn't replace the 3rd gear switch? Did you replace it with the proper switch? The 4th gear switch points down from the valve body. The 3rd gear switch points towards the rear of the trans. Measure the switches with an ohm meter. They should show shorted.

Yeah that was the one.
Ohmed at .9
the bad one ohmed at 11.9

You may have put a bad switch in. Put air pressure on the switch (threaded end) and see if air comes out the vent hole on the connector side. If air comes out the vent hole the switch is bad.

Does your tranny have a deep pan on it?

Why does the ECM need to know when the car is in 4th?
Does it control kickdown/passing gear? or is that strictly the TV cable?

To control converter lockup and boost among other things. It does not control shifting in the trans. All shifting is controlled by the valvebody, governor, and T.V. cable adjustment.

IF you have the 7004r filter in the tranny it could be touching the 4th gear switch and shorting it out?
