hey guys, gearing up for my swap. I have a built 700r4 ready to go(i know i know, i should use a 200-4r but i can't afford it, a good built 200 is a nice chunk of change. Plus the tq arm and xmember is another couple hundred)

So anyway, anyone that has run a 700r4 with that adapater plate, any problems with it? any help would be great :)

I can only speak for the adapter plate itself.

It works great! And I'm not just a TCI employee, I'm also a customer. (Sounds like that hair club commercial.):p

I have one in my 1968 Firebird to mate a 4L80E to the Pontiac 455. Couldn't be easier.

wow i'm surpised i didn't get yelled at for using a 700r4 behind the TTA motor, ah well i'll get yelled at soon enough :p

thanks for the info :)

US?...... Not us...

Wouldn't it suck if everyone had a 69 Red Camaro with a 350/350 and 3:73's.:D?

You do get bonus points for uniqueness too, ya know....;)

Besides, somebody's got to be the guinea pig... Hehehehe:eek:

Well its more for $$ reasons. I see 200-4r's that need rebuild going for $400, not to mention a good rebuild is a nice chunk of change, then i'd need a new DS, and a spohn tq arm and x-member, those 2 right there is 400 bucks. I'd be spending around $800 and i haven't even had the tranny rebuilt yet, maybe down the road i'll swap a nicely built 200-4r in but not right now.....i'll try it with the 700-r4...just gotta hope that 1-2 gear drop doesn't kill me :(

You will be fine.....

I agree, you will be fine.. Now get it in and drive it like you stole it. !!!!!!!!!!:D

don't worry the motor should be in late next month :)

so you think i'll be fine with the 700-r4? WOW you're like the first turbo buick guy that has told me that, and for someone of your status to say that makes me feel better lol

Well,

You will make it work now.. You have to:)

Good luck and let us know of your findings. :)

just curious though, how much would a built 200-4r run me that would handle high 11's/low 12's?

Just a thought..

Never be afraid to try something new.
Remember that amateurs built the Ark.
Skilled people built the Titanic. :D

and $14-1800.00 would do it..depending on what you wanted:)

Fly89Gta,were on the same page!

I am now gettting info on this plate as well ,as I am doing the same swap as you ,but into my 89 camaro. My engine is currently at Cottons.I will be picking it up in the comming weeks. We could help each other out.Im glad I found this post,I too have a 700R4 built, with a vigilante 9.5 stall and trango shift kit and tci pan on mine.I have way too much money in my trans to swap to a 200r4.Steve Kaminski says that these cars run faster with the 700 than with the 200.Dont know if that is true.I called TCI today, they told me the kit is complete, with the spacers for the torqu converter and all.Im going to be getting it soon.Next thing is the motor mounts...

cool man :) what work did u get done at Cottons? Mine is bone stock aside from a AFPR and a Trasher 92 chip. The exhaust and suspension is already done on my car...so i'm hoping for around a 12.8-13.0 in street trim, so we'll see :)

This is the same kit we use in our test car. Works well and you cannot go wrong for what you plan to do. Either of you:D

but how did it perform with the 700-r4? and be honest!! :D

Well after I posted that I thought..

We actually use the reverse one from the one you need. We have a SBC in the car to test all of our outbound transmissions.
We need the chevy motor to BOP adaptor to run the bop style trans'. Testing in a car , is the only way to go. And with 312,000 miles on a 327 it will run low 13. The new 391 c.i. stroked 350 going in made 603ftlbs on the dyno, So it should be interesting. :D

We will test them tranny's!!!! :D
