With a max conv of 2800 which would be the better for 90% street driven? I understand that the turbonetics turbine housings are the best for these turbos, any opinions?? thanks:cool:

Guess you got that info from Turbonetics?

For your almost stock build and use, a 44 or 49 with a Garrett housing works best. There is no difference between the 2 turbos except where the inlet hose connects to the compressor housing. One has a bolt-on stock flange, other has a cast-in flange.

Cotton performance is the one that spoke of the housing they have had poor performance with.

The difference in CFM is a key also for performance. looking at an engine on the air pump principle air in air out.

The "difference" between stock turbo and 44/49 or 44 and 49?
There is no difference between 44 and 49 as they use the same wheels.

As far a Turbonetics housings, not sure what they are using now, but thought they were Garrett? The "other" housing from PTE will give more lag at low end than a Garrett on your set up. The housings flow the same, just work different.

Based upon user experience, there will not be .05 sec between the two in spite of the slightly higher cfm rating of the 44.

Take your choice based upon appearance...stock appearing with stock bell on the 49 or integral bell on the 44. The slightly larger compressor housing on the 44 will not translate to additional performance in this case.

The Garrett housing will perform as well as anything out there. The PTE exhaust housing may offer better top end to a small degree but also may hurt the bottom end spool. Results seem to vary according to user.
