im not getting personal ,just being up front.whether he goes away or not is certainly of no concern of mine.this post wasnt about me or you bruce it was about him and his making a customer happy.not a battle between business rivals.i just made a statement that was accurate about the length of time it takes one to aquire a true understanding of what he is working on.and god willing im not going anywhere .my new cnc machinery will assure the growth and sucess of the company i run and cement its position in the market. watch and see what i do with the drums input shafts etc at the beginning of the year (hehehehehehehe).we spoke about raising the prices on the billet stuff but in actuality they will probably go down.and with you outsourcing your machine work youll never be able to compete with me in the price dept.this doesnt make us enemies it only means im going about things differently.now let the man enjoy his moment in the spotlite.the turbo buick market is dwindling down fast and has always been only 20% of my business.there is ,however always room for a new person in the arena to try to take the charging bull head on while only holding a kerchief.there are only a few who will however flip his over on his back and then go on to fight another one.

Chris, you've had that CNC machine for about a year, are you now considered a pro behind the controls? Flippin bulls left and right are ya? You have such a way with words dude......Priceless :D

TR business isn't dwindling for me in the least........Best year I ever had by far!! Looking forward to 07.

You guys f'in crack me up!

Russ did my transmission in the spring and so far Ive been real happy with the result. He is a great guy to work with and seems to really know his stuff. His attention to detail is second to none and he takes great pride in his work. I wouldnt hesitate to go back to him for other work.

i am by no means a pro and have a person i call for assistance just about every other time i run the machine.machining a shaft is much simpler than building a transmission, and doesnt require a "principles of operation "doctrine to produce superior results.the machine and program does all the work. having 20 years in the mechanical trade does aid in performing the operation of the machine as well as the checking of what it produces.measuring is also critical but is something i have done as part of the trade from the beginning.as for the business dwindling it is not a reference to loss of revenue due to lost customer interest in our products.it is a statement based on evaluated conclusions of what is purchased by consumers and their interests in a specific line of product .these evaluations help us strategically build the future of the business by allowing us to focus on areas of interest for new products, reintroducing existing products(with refinements to meet changes in the market)and providing customers with what they are asking for.for example you wouldnt start up a mr softee route in the middle of winter in vermont and expect to be generating revenue.anyhow our shift kit and billet drums dominate the market and are used more than any others produced for this market and with excellent results.on the other hand our converter sales have suffered a huge blow due to faulty products and services from our original source.this however was made up for due to increased sales in other areas which is allowing us to slowly build up our arsenal of convverter manufacturing equiptment.right now the person employed by ckperformance to produce our 10 .5 and 12 inch 2004r and 700r4 converters is a seasoned professional with 25 years exp .at production converter rebuilding.i worked with him for 3 years at the plant and still have retained most of thst info from 9 years ago as if it were yesterday.my manufacturing capabilities and the quality of the shafts and drums can easily cripple other companies in this area who dont have their own machines, and im not playing with small change either so that helps.ill take risks and kick them in the balls head on as i strive to continue to expand the manufacturing end of my company.this stuff looked good on paper ,but even better when my determination helper make it reality.i hope some of these ideals will help others on their attempt to climb to the top, that why im posting it.yia hara pedthia

I guess I've been pretty fortunate producing superior results considering I've only been doing transmissions for 3 yrs. I'll give all the credit to using the PTS parts that must be doing my thinking for me. Seems Bruce has it figured out if I'm havin so much "luck". Sometimes having too much "information" hurts....... That I know well from tuning TRs. I've seen people hooked up to NASA and can't figure out their cars. Building a transmission isn't what I consider brain surgery, very time consuming and enjoyable but not difficult. Sometimes reinventing the wheel is a bad idea when it's already spinning..... Anyway, have a great Sunday, headed to breakfast...... Life is good :)

Chris I am just saying leave this thread alone.. YA HAVE NOTHING GOOD TO SAY LEAVE  .. IF YOU WANT I'LL START ONE ABOUT YOUR WIZ BANG FRONT PUMPS

kudos to russ.

russ did my trans a few week's ago. the turn around was way to quick the quality was second to none. the price was more than fair!!! russ has done most if not all the work on my car to this point and probly be the only person that will work on my car other than me with my limited mecanical skills. he is a go getter. if it wasn't for russ i would have sold this thing a long time ago and gone back to the old gs cars. (merrit performance it's not for kids) keep up the great work russ!! when do you want my engine. lb8

WOW, leave it to a cherry's first post to knock the lantern over! Chris (and Eric) I know you guys are the big hitters in the northeast. I bought your manual & some parts. You were very helpful on the phone. I bought a servo from Eric on Ebay, had it next morning without asking to expedite. I did try to contact Eric & he never got back to me. I just didn't want to travel to the metro NY area if I could avoid it. I put an inquiry into Russ and liked what I heard back. If It hadn't felt right, I would have gone w/ CK. I made my first criteria geography, Russ was "on the list" of competent, trustworthy guys that can build a 200-4R and his location was more to my taste. Like I said, after initial contact and communication, I knew he was going to suit my needs. I got lucky in that he was able to make this REALLY EASY and turn it around REALLY FAST - all at his effort and expense. Me having just been a voyeur on the transmission board, was looking to see who could put the package together for me - location, competence, honesty, and a price/result quotient. Russ hit em all. I felt that their are many others out there, not unlike me, that are considering transmission builds or , like me, end up needing one unexpectedly. It is for these folks that I put that out there so they know he has the right stuff. You TB guys are lucky to have the network of tech savvy information and resources this board and it's members offer, especially on your "exclusive" engines and trannies that only so many people are truly competent. Coming from the sad sister community of Oldsmobile devotees, I know how important it is to have guys that really know the animal and are willing to share their knowlege for the benefit of fellow enthusiasts. I hope all of your businesses thrive and hate to think you guys can't get along, especially when I would guess you share many mutual friends as customers and fellow racers. Thanks again Russ, don't feel left out or slighted Chris & Eric. I think I'll go back to voyeurism for a while and let this s*#t storm burn out.

I would choose Chris over Bruce any given day...
Chris wouldn`t screw me like Bruce did...

only one thing here ..... this isn't about Chris and Bruce  It's just an attaboy thread for Russ Merritt's tranny's  :p

Chris wouldn`t screw me like Bruce did...
Neither of these guys would try too screw anyone. They're very passionate about what they do,and live to help people. Neither of these guys would waste any time and energy to hurt someone in any way,as it doesn't give any purpose or meaning to there lives.

ok if you say so

I actually just met Russ for the first time this past week, and he hasn't even gotten into my blown tranny yet, and all can say is that he is a stand up guy who really seems willing to help people. Especially ones new to the GN scene like myself. After talking with him for 20 minutes all my fears about what the outcome of my tranny will be were a thing of the past. He definitly is 100% into what he does, and that should make customers feel good about dropping serious money on a tranny or motor, or whatever.
As a new and hopefully longtime customer of Russ Merritt Performance, just want to let the crowd know what my first impressions were.

Eric

Congrats Russ! You are one of the "Stand Up" Buick nerds...lol Have a good holiday!
