which trans. company and what conv. to handle 1000hp? if i get a local shop to rebuild one for me, how much should it be upgraded. I want a trans. brake and be able to foot brake the car around 3500-3800 rpms.

PTC 9.5" converter probably a 18 or 19 blade unit, and I;d go with extreme automatics, But Dusty would know best.

TH400's are easy. Mine is basically stock with a 34 element sprag, RMVB, and brake. Been going strong for 3 years. I do need a billet drum though. I got my trans used out of a car going back to a 200, Vince Janis went through it and changed some clearances to his specs. Works awesome. Janis is my trans guy. Never had a problem with the 400 or 200 for that matter.

The 9.5 converter would be the way to go. Like has been said. A 34 element sprag, RMVB, brake with deep pan and a billet forward drum is a good idea for that kind of power.

If it was me I would be looking for the XHD 36 element caddy sprag to start and Billet E4340/300M intermediate and input. A good RMVB and trans brake with at least 180 line pressure. Of course we all have our own little tricks we like to throw at the assembly to further enhance durability.
CK performance has about the best prices on components if your a do it yourself type.
