I don't know if you would be dinged for not having emblems unless you were at an all Buick show and they knew what to look for. Most other shows I suspect nobody would know missing emblems from those improperly placed.

Me personally...I like the look of the emblems and the side molding. The rock guard was there and really, nobody even sees it.

I do NOT like the look of smooth sides with no door molding. That makes these cars look too fat in my opinion.

If you are aiming for custom car shows where mods don't count then it really doesn't matter.

Another thought I always have is... a lack of badges suggests a repaint and to me, a car wearing its original paint is very nice.

Unfortunately the original paint is usually crap. I have just finished a car and it has a phenomenal paint job! Looks like a mirror. I don't know if I want to detract from the smooth clean look for the sake of some emblems. BTW, I have not seen any side molding that looks as good as the factory stuff. Mine had dealer installed stuff and it didn't look very good either.

My biggest fear is not being steady enough and sticking this crap on crooked.

Just don't install the side molding...even as a factory option I was never a fan of them...just something else for wax to get stuck in.

That's why I usually take off all of the emblems!;) I even filled the antenna hole on one of my GN's for that clean/slick look. (I don't listen to the radio when I drive my GN- only the whine of the turbo and the cries of the defeated:biggrin:

Thanks for all the input.

What are your thoughts on emblems? Personally, I'm not a huge fan and I'm wondering how much I would be "dinged" for not having the emblems. Or the lower door panel "road guard paint"...

Just thinking about a few things and wondering if I should bother or not...

It depends on the show and class. an "original " class in AACA terms you would get dinged but a modified class you wouldn't
