I'm glad gn85 responded to this thread. I'm a teacher and I can only shake my head at some of the ignorant statements made. The problem with education can be fixed by fixing the home, and how can that be done? That the billion dollar question. I do know you find the answer on MTV or BET.
I teach kids right now that are worse than intercity kids. These kids don't realize how bad it can really be for them if they don't graduate or get a good education. I have three 16 year-old children in 7th grade this year, and if you ask them their career ambition all three will tell you "rapper." The rest will say professional football player.
What ever happened to fireman, police officer, or doctor?
Then again, what should we expect from a society that cares more about sports and entertainment than family values?
