How did it turn out? Any issues using armorall like smudging? I'm thinking about doing my dash and all interior plastics.

It's all in the prep work...

I just finished doing my dash & all the interior plastics today. They turned out very good IMO. I really like the way the dash looks now, gave it a little darker color too...I replaced the chrome molding along the top of the glovebox (mine was peeling) & got a new glovebox plate from TR Custom Parts. I removed the metal frame, had it blasted & powdercoated black. Retouched the vents & glovebox plate surrounding with a metallic silver paint pen. Don't know about Armor All yet...gonna let the paint sit for some time before using anything.

I'm not an avid user of armorall or any of those products, but once in a while (every few months) I do use them.

I'd be concerned about the plastic pieces holding up to scratches.. I have done a few dashes over the years with no problems.

Painted a few truck loads of interior plastic parts in my lifetime it seems. Throw the ArmourAll in the trash. It's sure fire way to stain those freshly painted parts. Not to mention the chemicals in it accelerate the degradation of the plastic by evaporating the oil. Soap and water my friend is all you need to keep it clean.

I got one of those microfiber mitts that Griots gouges you on. Seems to do pretty good dry.

Here's mine, Repainted all the vinyl about 3 years ago after I got a new dash to replace the stock original

So it looks like a little elbow grease, sand free, and paint is the way to go. I haven't seen any dye that is matched to our color so I'm gonna order a can of paint from gbodyparts for the dash and see how it turns out. THanks for your input and suggestions guys

So the best thing to do if you want it matched is to take an unfaded interior piece to your local paint jobber, they can mix SEM interior dye to an exact match. The downside is you have to have a spray gun. You really need a detail gun to lay the dye down fine enough to have a good finish.

its not really gouging when it makes your life easier right?

I think I'm going to repaint all of my interior stuff so color match will not be an issue.

Eastwood has a set of DeVbliss guns that are actually pretty good. $169 for a 3 gun set. Now I don't have the devibliss detail gun (mine is sata) but I also have the DeVbliss paint and primer and they are pretty good.

Thought this was going to be a cheap project:rolleyes: I guess I should ask around and see if I can find someone that has one.

It's getting to where I'd buy that tool and I'd have to charge groceries:(

So I haven't tried some of the cheap Harbor freight detail guns but they might be OK, certainly better than a rattle can. But I wonder if Vatozone rents detail guns.

Never thought about harbor freight. I should go check it out. I'm sure I could dig up an old interior piece to try it out on.

Kinda jumping in here, I've been thinking of changing my interior color. Whats the process to do this? Cleaning, prep, ect..
