I have vacuum brakes and am pushing through the lights when i try to hold over 5 lbs so i was thinking about bailey's 2 step. Some people have told me that the 2 step makes it harder to hold boost unless using it in conjunction with a trans-brake. Whats everyones experience using this 2 step without a transbrake and vacuum brakes. I'm trying to leave anywhere from 8 to 10 lbs

2 step works fine with the footbrake. Will probably need to use the timing retard feature of the 2 step to hold additional boost against the brake.

I'm able to get consistent 1.50 - 1.55 60's from leaving at 5lbs but would like to leave a little harder. I'm also researching a hydroboost conversion which would also solve the problem.

No need for hydroboost. Vacuum brakes work perfect. Maybe look at upgrading your brake pads or servicing your brakes

Brakes have longer shoes, s10 cylinders and baer front brakes

Lower front tire pressure. Also try adjusting your rear brakes. A 2 step will help but its not needed imop

Excuse my ignorance on the 2step . . .
Always thought its primary purpose to be an increase in contestancy at launch, with boost being a secondary benefit . . .

2 Step is designed for shitty brakes. It allows to build more boost on the line at reduced power. Reducing timing will further reduce power. ;)

To help with your brakes, go get yourself some 87 S10 rear wheel cylinders and two sets of rear shoes. You will want to install both sets if the larger shoes and wheel cylinder. With vacuum brakes and in the street, I could hold 14# boost before tires broke loose....

He stated in post #5 that he has all that.

Seen that after I posted it. But if his brakes aren't holding and he has already done such..... I recommend that he looks in vacuum issue with the booster.....

What would be the issue? It does build boost but when it goes past 5lbs it starts pushing forward

Use your em brakes also and see if you can build more boost at the line without pushing , that will let you know if it the brakes or not .

Pull the rear brake drums , check to make sure the wheel cylinders are not leaking...blew mine in NC a couple of years ago and was pushing through the lights as well. Rear shoes on passenger side were soaked.

The cylinders aren't leaking and i know about the emergency brake method but i'm not doing that cause i've bent a backing plate on another car i had doing that.
