SignUp Now!I pump Nawwwzz through mine, and I gained 150HP. That's right, one hundred and fifty horsepower!!! The nitrous super cools the throttle body and it makes the intake temps drop about 200*. It was the best and easiest mod for 150 horsepower I have ever done. (except for the whistle-tip exhaust, that was easier and made a bit more power) I was amazed that it could make that much difference, but I had it checked on dyno. (Deeno the dyno in Bedrock) Nawwzzz is some great stuff. If you add a couple of stickers on your window, it'll help verify the power gains. Putting the stickers on perfectly crooked is the real hard part, though. I heard that some guys tried using nitrogen, but it just didn't have the same effect as naawzz. I also heard that the Vin Diesel GNX has naawzz pumping through the throttle body coolant passage, too. Them Hollywood guy really know how to build power!! That's why I did it to mine. I read about it in TMZ magazine, and verified it on Hot Rod TV. There's some real cool stuff coming out for our cars, thanks to the Hollywood directors that know more about horsepower than any of us do!
OK, now the real story. I always remove the water lines, but it really makes no difference. The air is passing through too fast to pick up any heat. But I still remove them.
I think this was one of the first ever mods to a turbo buick. I have my coolant lines brazed shut also.
Don't forget to crush your fuel pressure regulator to more pressure...ha! (seriously...don't do it!)

That's how I crushed my regulator, a socket and a hammer. I had the external pump too. Went mid to high 7's in the 1/8 mile. I had my fan relay on a switch that I could ground it out and make it run whenever I wanted. High-tech! Those were the days when you couldn't wait for the new ATR newsletter, GSXtra or Kirban's newsletters to come. Kenne Bell's catalogs where everything was worth 2 or 3 tenths in the quarter.Man That WAS the way to make more power "back in the day".I would take a fuel pressure gauge to the track and a 5/8" deep socket (had one anyway, 'casue I HAD to change plugs after every other pass 'cause I had melted the tips off!
) and a hammer and SMACK the top of the regulator to up the pressure. (if I needed to lower it, I used a slide hammer to pull the top back up..................................not really) But I also did that to few other guys cars at the track, so they didn't melt head gaskets like I use to. I have changed head gaskets on the side of the road down the street from the track! Had it done in 10 hours with just hand tools! I'm not that fast anymore. Too old and broken for THAT kind of wrenching.

I did run a best of 11.77@112 with stock injectors, Don Kieger chip, (WHO'S THAT?) stock turbo, stock intercooler and an external Bosch 286 pump. With a set of AFR ported iron heads and a Crane cam, can you say L-E-A-N?

The biggest injectors back then were 30lb Tomco's, unless you wanted to step up to a Haltech ECM that required a masters degree in computer science to program.
Thanks for the memory...........er........nightmare!![]()
