Would like to get some feed back from the Buick Community; 65mm T/B vs 70mmTB. All things being equal is there any big performance gain to be had going from a 65 to 70mm T/B? And if so where low end, top end, through the entire power band?
Hope I stated that clear enough.

Years ago we did a back-to-back test at the track between a stock TB and a 70mm.

My car was running consistent 11.1-11.2, and there was no difference in ET or MPH.

If the intercooler has a 3" outlet, it should help by allowing you to lower the boost for the same HP level since boost is restriction.

Like most upgrades on our cars, the compatibility and combination of parts is extremely important, very seldom do you find a "magic" part for instant and reliable HP! :)

Isn't Alky the closest thing to magic out there

Unfortunately many owners think alky is "magic" as we have done MANY head gasket replacements and engine rebuilds on alky equipped cars that did not have the proper combination of parts, or thought they did! :)

Used properly, alky is fine, but many owners think it is a "magic bullet" and go beyond it limits with disastrous results, and most of these disasters never show up on the board. Very few people want to report their mistakes or damage.

Everything Nick stated is true. My car is reliable and ok fast for stock internals inc slugs. I run a good pump gas timing curve and then add alky to increase boost to a higher level, but never push the envelope of timing. With this thought process, my alky works great and reliably on the street and strip. I've seen some friends blow stuff up trying to run race gas timing curves and values on just pump and alky and then it gets rough quick. Just my .02 though, I'm no guru. I'll post my mishap though :( I bent all six of my rods from a bad alternator that dropped voltage at 25psi. I even had race gas mixed in at the time; lifted the heads but they resealed and it drove home. I even put 2k miles on it before we took the pan off and saw the starry shiny stuff. Had the rods straightened and threw it back together with new bearings and old rings. My Buick guy said he never would have gotten this lucky though. I've been pounding on it in the mid-11's since...kinda waiting to let it go so I can accelerate the new build. Sorry for the digression; all stock TB/plenum/intake fwiw.
