Thanks again! I've got plenty of different trowels since I've been on a tile fiasco the last 2 winters.
Since your a tile setter, you'll get a kick out of my bathroom, I had this done for the most part, I assisted in some of the design as my neighbor at the time did most of it. Has all heated flooring too.

2 tile "pictures" made on the walls in the martini glass theme, the other is just above the "lips"

And the whole room..the ceiling is painted to simulate the tile peaks extending to a point.

That then inspired me to do my hallway, bedroom closets, and office on my own. I put the heating wire in the office, great working with bare feet and warm floor now :)

And the finished office, I like using the bullnose for the edging base boards so you don't have to worry about them getting scraped up or marked up with the vac cleaner. I just made up the design in the center to use up some spare tiles I had from the bedroom closets.

I've laid quite a bit of tile, and you do not want to use the glue on the floor. Like GNcollectables said, the floors will flex too much.

The glue is used for wall tile in the bathrooms that isn't really in the shower or near the backsplash. You can cover a large area in a really short time versus working with concrete and backer board. Use backerboard and concrete in the showers and anywhere else that it would get wet alot, then outside the shower (ex: running tile around all 4 walls 4' up from the floor) just use the glue on drywall.

I started peeling off the formica a few days ago, I got it all off in about 4 hours..the tops were easy..those middle verticle support pieces were the hardest, especially the front facing curved sides.
My cousin stopped by on Christmas and he sells tile and used to lay it. After peeling the formica off, the tops do flex a little if someone were to push down alot like when getting out of the barstool..and occassional some people do hop up and sit on the top...so he recommended at least laying the backerboard down on the top flat surfaces then use the glue for the sides/edges/ and the vertical support pieces at least. The tops are 3/4" partical board.
Using thin set and screws to secure the backerboard..then I could still use the glue on the top of the backerboard if I chose.

Started the tiling today, did the supports. The mastic glue is very easy to work with.
Here's the progress.
The broken tiles...that felt weird taking the hammer to perfectly good tile :)

And the supports done, the mastic glue I used is what the bucket is on top.

Wife gave me the go ahead to put some "special" art work on the tops...guess what that will be :) hehe hope I can cut it out and make it work.

That would have been a heck of a lot easier  After almost 5 hours I've ended up with 2...one for the top surface and one for the lower server side top :)

And if I couldn't make it any harder..after 2 more days I have all of this since I made a Turbo "6" my wife required I make these for her and her TA :)

Sweeeeeet..... looks killer, good job!

Like that Firebird too...

Thx! I finally laid the last tile last night...I can't beleive how time consuming that was laying those little suckers.
I'll start grouting maybe tomorrow ...for sure Sat morning....
Here's how it looks...sooo much different than that first pic in the this post :) And yes we decided to use a bit bigger pieces for the top section as the bottom really messes with your eyes :)

very cool... now don't forget to seal the grout!
yes sir! I have the sealer all sitting out ready to apply tonight when I get home. I had to do a test on a sample board I tiled up and grouted to see how I could apply it and still be able to wipe it off the tile....basically have to apply it with a sponge brush...making sure its just a thin coat on the tiles...then wait about 10 mins and come back with a damp towel wiping the surface and removing whats on the slick glass tiles but not removing its from the porus grout..... It would be impossible to apply only to the grout and not get it on the tiles :)
