Well the 84 i been trying to check out. I got a price finialy, the guy wants 1750 for it. Heres what it has

New COMPLEATE engine (out of an 85) Normal Transmission, that doesnt shift as hard as the good ones.

Heres what it needs:
- Deffentaly needs paint and bumper fillers.

- Needs an exhaust.

- Needs a window tint job.

- Needs the 3.8 SFI TURBO on the hood.

- Needs the seats to be redone.

Any of you guys could give me an estimate on what it will cost to get back upto Flawless condition (apearance wise).

Ill have 4000-4500 after i sell my car.

Any Estimates? help?

well what you have left over can get it looking decsent again, but for an awesome paint job, $that alone could be around $4500, i plan on painting my gn soon, but i think $i'll be under the $2k price, i say $2k on the paint job and the rest fixin it up

Good news!

Went to school today and talked with the shop teacher. And the school gets auto paint for about half of what I would pay for it. So for black paint thats around 750 bucks a gallon, ill only have to pay 375 bucks, plus if they only use like 1/2 gallon or 3/4ths a gallon i could pay as little as 190 bucks, more likly closer to 285 bucks. Not bad, not looking for a PERFECT paint job. But i will be having it done by 2nd year students and they actualy know what their doing. and all the other stuff heres a list of what ill have to do.

I think i will take the 10 bucks and bum 10 off my dad and go get me a full tank of 93 Octane! Ill use the homemade boost controller and set the psi to around 18.5-20psi. Hopefully with this combo ill be pushing 300-325rwhp. And hopefully, if im lucky ill be in the 12s! But i will be extreamly happy with low 13s!

Then ill use this time to save up some money from my job. And put in a cottons FMIC. Mabey that will drop some time. Deffenant 12s there.

From there on out if i can get my car to hit high 11s on DR's I'll hold onto it for a while. And when i get about 6-8k Built Up I'll buy me a fully loaded 87 Gn with T-tops in GOOD condition. Sell my 84. for around $8,000-$8,500. With everything on it. And Make 3-4k in the process. I'll buy my 87 for around 7k-7.5k and dump around 5-6k in performance parts into it. Can anyone say low 11s on street tires? I can.

Wish me luck. this WILL happen! Possably in the next week or so. I already have a buyer for my car offering 4800 right now. hopefully i can get him up to 4900.

But anyway sorry for the long post. But thanks. Just kinda excited.

"160 degree Thermostat: ---------------------------------------$80.00"
this should be under $10 so there is $70 more money for you.

Why wouldn't you look for another intercooled car? You could pick up a nice t-type for 5 grand.:confused:

W3rd...Sounds like a lot of trouble unless your just looking for a hotair project.

im taking basic figures that i SAW from other posts.. thanks for the Therm price. I am looking for a hot air project.. they make great sleepers... I dont want a t-type even tho they are better sleepers.. i just wanna see what i can do with a hot air... i worked something out in my head and on note pad... for all you guys that are expirenced with time slips and ****. PLEASE help me out with this.. i did a few calculations to get the times.. it looks good to me.. but then agian.. i could be horrably wrong.

Heres the Fake Slip

Left: 2327----------|----Right: 2322
84 Buick GN--------|---87 Buick GN
R/T: --- .068--------|---.068 R/T
60': ---- 2.097------|---1.985 60'
330': - --5.036-----|----4.732 330'
1/8th:-- 9.423------|----8.824 1/8th
MPH: --- 74.292----|---80.347 MPH
1000': - 12.689----|---11.629 1000'
1/4th: - 14.971-----|---13.982 1/4th
MPH: --- 89.122----|---101.193 MPH

Does this 'slip' look valid? Btw these are STOCK times.. if their wrong, please help me correct it.

Also yeah about the 750 a gal thing... honda red paint is 1200 a gal. and so is mystic chrome.. i was just guessing.. a friend of mine said it was closer to 300 a gal. so im thinking.. mabey i could have a decent paint job for around 150 bucks. Since the school gets it 1/2 of what i would pay for it.

but yeah checkit out. Hot air project going for 11s.. hopefully 10s.. but ill probaly wind up throwing a BLACK FMIC in the front.. I would also like the 87 grill. It would really mess with someone seeing the 84-85 interior.. and the outside of the 87, with No Intercooled badging. but the 3.8 SFI TURBO on the hood, instead of the 3.8Litre Turbo from the 84's. And a black grill

But later on i plan to sell the car for 7500-8000 make a couple thousand off it. And get a fully loaded with t-tops GN, and take the money from the 84 and put into the 87 performance parts wise.

I recently repainted my truck and bought the paint from a place that gave me a pretty good but not great deal and here's what I paid: 1 gallon of Base coat, 1 quart of reducer, 1 Gallon of the best clear they had, total cost? $350.00 That was for Matrix, which is a decent paint. Now if you were to buy say, Sikkens you may spend upwards of $600-700. Shop around on your paint, but stay away from REALLY cheap stuff.

Point im trying to make is... Even tho its a Hot air. Its still a Respectable running car. Sure, a second is ALOT of time in the 1/4th. but still. How many stock 4cyl and 6cyl cars out there run under 15secs stock? I can name quite a few. But i can name ALOT MORE that CANT run those times.. 75% of the cars on the road today run over 15secs. only 25% are under..

Only Honda that can run under 15sec (that i know of) stock is the NSX.

Mitsubishi = 3000GT VR4 and Evo
Toyota = Supra
Nissan = Skyline, 300zx TT, 350z
Subaru = Impreza WRX, STi. Ect.
Cheverloet = Camaro z28/SS Corvette/z06 Chevelle ect
Dodge = viper, SRT4, SRT6, SRT8 Magnum, Ram SRT10, ect.

You get the point. However i could name ALOT more cars that CANT do it.

Most of mitsu, Nearly ALL of honda, Most of nissan, Almost all of toyota. most of chevy, er.. dodge is a iffy one. about 50/50.
Subie, 50/50.

But anyway, im just a guy trying to take a hot air as far as i can :D

My sentiments exactly!

DuPont Centari has been around forever, I've had several cars painted with it and it always turned out great (good painter probably helps) and seemed to last...Just did a search, a gallon of black is $94....

Thanks Buick from hell. i apreciate it! Du-point is good paint right?
and were did you get it from.

Btw i found a guy that does TR's interiors. So im gonna buy a Compleate Interior kit from him. Thats the 87 style. and it will say Grand National embroided into the seat. But no Intercooled.

84 With 87' 3.8 SFI TURBO badging. 87 GN interior. 84 Wheels. 84 Grand national badging. and 87 Grille. Would make someone wonder what year it was wouldnt it?

Personaly i like the 86-87 GN wheels better. However i like the GNX wheels the best. I'll probaly get a set of 88-89 T/A GTA wheels. And other stuff. however.. i COULD take the GN bading and 3.8 baging off and make it look like a GNX lol. Not sure as of yet. Always told myself if i got a hardtop i would make it a GNX clone.

Anyway im still trying to figure out what ill do to it. Thanks for the relplies,

- Cody:D
