I need some input on what brand, stall speed, & lock up/non lockup works best with a GN that I plan to go into the mid 11's. My Brother has a Vigilante Torque converter and a transgo shift kit in his Supercharged LT1 Ram Air, And he loves it. I see alot of you guy's using Art Carr's stuff. Is it just preference, or is one better than the other??

The transgo shift kit requires you to drill the valve body. The BRF valve bodies are in kinda short supply. I had it at one time and didn't like it very much. The Art Carr shift kit doesn't require drilling.

Converter wise you need to decide if you want lockup or non-lockup. Lot's of GN guys use Precision Viglantes as well as Art Carr. I would make sure it's the "real" Art Car Converter if you go that route. Usually something in the 3000-3500 stall range depending on which turbo you run.

I run a Art Carr 19930 Non-Lockup that stalls around 3500. That combined with my TE-45A turbo I get very little turbo lag and have no problem building more boost at the line that my tires can hold. Still is fine for the streets as I drive it to all events.

The transgo kit DOES NOT require you to drill the valvebody. It may have years ago. I have used several without a problem.

Depends on which Kit you get. There are kits designed to be installed by tranny professionals during rebuilds vs kits to be installed by the enduser in their garage. They certainly may have changed the shift re-programming kit since I got mine but at the time it required drilling. I still have the drilled valve body.

911 is the way to go.

3/4 of the stall speed selection problem, is the chip not being right.

Can you elaborate on this a little Bruce?
