No idea. I can't figure out where the 90* bend would attach. Was it sold as a GN strap or just a 'torque strap'?

That strap is specific for a TTA. Not sure how long the turnbuckle section is but you might be able to get a longer eye-bolt and j-bolt and cobble something together to use on your GN. Something like this:

Depending on how cheap you can get the hardware you might be better off just buying a new strap from earlbrown ;)

Looks real similar to one I had years ago, can't remember who made it;
the slightly angled side (right side in your pic) is the top of the strap &mounted to the top alternator bolt (in front, angling forward) & the 90* side is the bottom of the strap & mounted to frame rail near charcoal canister area (pick any avail. nearby hole) mine finally gave out (at the alt side), but it took over 5 yrs...

I've never tried but doesn't the solid/turnbuckle style screw with the knock sensor? I guess one way to help the motor mounts is to introduce bunches of ign retard... not a good way to go fast though. That might explain the rubber hose on 626's picture.

On The Wrath's pic you can see a rubber grommet on the bottom end of the top piece (my old one had it also); when I had mine on I don't recall seeing any excessive knock on S/M
I'm guessing that's its purpose?

Negative. Absolutely NO knock retard introduced. Why would anyone use it if it did? :confused:

I stand corrected. rev.3:11 is correct. I found this photo of that strap on a TB. Only caught the top half though...

this is what i want to know will this strap break the belt tensioner like the ratchet strap?

I would think any type of strap is capable of breaking things.

I think the correct way to mount that to an 87 GN is to open the drawer in your tool box , find the correct size wrench to unscrew the turnbuckle almost all the way out paying close attention to not unscrew it too far....Open the hood on your 87 GN and look at the alternator where this is designed to be utilized, then look at the frame where it will be mounted.....then walk to your trash can and throw it inside, making sure that it stays in one piece. You sure dont want any part of it making its way back near your car. Hope this helps.......:ROFLMAO:

Brutal...Lol!

No argument here. Good motor mounts are no doubt the way to go. But there is at least one very well respected member here who still uses a strap. No dog in the fight. Just say'in...

Correct, throw out and put some HR motor mounts on it. I always recommend replacing both sides so motor sits level.
