Touch climate control drama

Hey guys,

I was recharging my ac and the diode on the compressor ground out. Now I have no power to the high pressure switch. I followed the manuals troubleshoot and it has informed me that the control unit is fried. I found a couple dark spots on a little resistor diode looking deal. Could I have actually fried it? Why didn't the fuse save it? Is there another fusible link?

These head units are pricey and don't want to keep throwing parts at it.

Found a newer style and it works. Unfortunately the fan resistor/clutch switch from the car I grabbed it from is fried.

I have .33 volts at the back of the unit and at the plug on the resistor. Does that mean I'm getting the low voltage to the resistor but it isn't stepping it up to 12 volts for the clutch?

Edit: I am getting 10 volts at the back of the controller. Nothing at the connector on the resistor

Do the other style auto climate control have the same style resistor? Not the straight mechanical standard type controls but the mechanical style that has auto climate control printed on the front. (Not sure what it is called)

It looks sorta like this but has a roller style fan control and auto climate control is printed above the function selector

Thanks for guide. I am at a loss. I have no power out of the purple wire on the back of the controller. I have switched it with another unit and it does the same thing.

Obviously I don't have power under the hood at the purple or dark green wire either.

It is also drawing hard on the battery now. I had to boost it and it didn't seem to want to charge. Ugh I should Learn to leave things well enough alone.

Any idea other than a faulty controller that would cause a dead purple wire?

All other tests pass except for the resistance on the external ambient temp sensor. The ohm should change depending on the temp outside shouldn't it?

This is the other style climate control that I have found. After a quick look behind it it has all the vacuum hooked right to the back. If I can't sort out the electronic controls what is involved in swapping it out and putting one of these in?
