Last night I was checking out gntype.org and saw a few articles on running toulene with 92 octane pump gas. These guys only dropped gallon of toulene (octane 114) into a whole tank of octane 92, only raising their octane a few "points".
I can get sunoco ultra 94 here in ohio, just down the street and by my calculations {(gallons of pump gas * octane rating of pump gas) + (gallons of toulene * 114) / total gallons = Final octane}, I could add 1 gallon of toulene to 4 gallons of octane 94 to get 5 gallons of 98 octane!
Does anyone know if this might be to potent or something? Has anyone tried it?

The highest mix you want is 1:2. One gallone of xylene (higher octane) to 2 gallons of 93 octane. Don't forget to ad some sort of lube.

I have done a "100 mix" of Ultra94 and toulene... using a street chip I was running 20psi and an open dump. It was good fun. :D

Marvel mystery oil will do ya as a lube.

Sweet!!!!!!

so I should also add the mineral spirits (cleaning agent) and a lil tranny fluid (lube) to a higher concentration?
Man I can't wait! ;)

Marvel Mystery Oil ~1 or 2 ounces, IIRC.

Why do all the mixing in stuff???

Just use 5 gal Zylene and 2oz of MMO and thats it! sherwin williams $22.60

Just build an alky kit and you wont have to worry about five gallon drums and the like. Plus you will be able to run more boost and timing if done right

I agree with that! However it's good to boost octane a bit when you begin tuning. Somewtimes the pump doesn't turn on for a variety of reasons, and sometimes people get a little bit carried away with the boost.

Spike the gas (full tank) tune, and gradually reduce the boost with each time you re-fill after using a quarter tank. If you keep good records, you will find the 'sweet spot' for your combbination. Hopefully you would end up adding just 1 gallon of toulene on race day to get the best results.

A little insurance against knock. (BTW 22 psi, with 22 degrees of timing sounds conservetive, but you will get 90 percent of the benefit, and loose most of the risk of detonation.) Don't get crazy!

BTW, I checked with D.Conner (petro chemist, and lots of experience running home brew) and he reccomends 2 ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil, to every 3 gallons of toulene added. (Adding a lot more than that actually causes detonation since hot oil has very low octane).
