well i am about at my wits end with this leak!!! i have no other leaks in the tranny all the seals are dry so there is no traveling of fluid. as for the pan it is a brand new art carr. the problem is i been thru every type of gasket and now i am starting back over with the first type but now with permatex and it is still leaking in the drivers fron corner. should i try the right stuff

Right Stuff is great at sealing almost anything, but a pain to get off once it's cured.....

thanks. i guess this is my only resort. just dont know why i am having this problem. the pan is straight and the case is not cracked

In an old thread someone else had this problem with an cast Al. pan & it was leaking around the pan bolt area. Think they used RTV on the bolt threads to finally fix it.

We have seen that problem often with an alum pan. Usually the bolts holding the shift bracket.

Teflon paste sealer, not teflon tape, on the bolt threads should fix it.

Just to be sure.....ck....

The shift shaft seal and the lock up plug. Somtimes they will leak sitting and run down the pan rail, looking like a pan rail leak. Very common on cars that sit alot. Not saying this is it, but worth a look , ya know? Ck it close.
Just a thought as I have seen this before.

Good luck and hopefully it is obvious.

thanks bruce recent rebuild and all is dry. it is leaking between the pan and bottom of gasket. it takes a few days then it starts to wick there. it isnt on the top of gasket and case

If you keep it garaged, sprinkle baby powder on the area and it will get wet and show exactally where you are leaking.

Careful with RTV on teh pan rail there is a fluid exh hole that can get plugged/blocked off.

Im betting its what Bruce said

where abouts is it? never heard of it as for bruces suggestions i have no leaks at plug or shaft seal. didnt leak with stock pan

thought of that too but it is between gasket and pan not on the sides of pan

My th400 was leaking between the gasket and pan also and i used the Right Stuff to stop it and it worked,no leaks at all.

When it comes time to remove it that may be a problem, but for now i'm enjoying not having leaks. ;)

well i had my tranny rebuilt and it is still leaking!!!!! i bought the right stuff. should i put it on with no gasket?

You need to pin point the location.

If you have to put it on jack stands and start the car and let it idle get under there and check it out (with the trans filled and pan on of course).

Spray the pan, case mating areas down with brake clean/wipe down and find where its leaking from.

i did it is weaping between the pan and gasket. the whole front of pan is wet. before it was just the drivers corner

found leak

well i cleaned the whole fron of pan and waited around and then i seen it coming so i looked at the passenger side and i see the bottom of servo is wet. so i clean it all up and after 30 sec. the servo started leaking. this is a new rebuild with a ck performance billit servo. what next besides calling builder

got it fixed!!! used a rubber nhammer and put it against the floor board and pushed on the servo 5 times or so to see how easy it was to change and then i cleaned off the fluid leaking and went back to cleaning the floor and exhaust and noticed that it had quit leaking. i guess it wasnt seated right. thanks god!!!
